The soap needs to pull out all the stops for some major comebacks
Emmerdale will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year, and the show’s producers are working on bringing back some major characters.
Jane Hudson, the show’s executive producer, wouldn’t say who she wants to bring back, but that’s fine because we have a list.
Here are five characters who must make an appearance in October for the big event.
Kathy, one of Emmerdale’s most well-known characters, has seen it all.
She married a serial killer and narrowly avoided becoming his third dead wife before fleeing to Australia in 2001, unlucky in love to the nth degree.
She returned briefly in 2005 for the funeral of Seth Armstrong, and it was later revealed that she had married and had a daughter.
Isn’t it past time for Kathy and her family to return to the village on a more permanent basis?
It’s the comeback that everyone is hoping for.
Andy Sugden has remained at large in the wider world for the past five years since he went on the run to avoid prison.
Even his gravely ill daughter couldn’t bring him back to the village, but the 50th might be able to.
Kelvin Fletcher may pay a one-time visit to Sarah in October.
It must take place!
An iconic village legend who needs to make a comeback.
Sadie is primed for a comeback, with at least an ex-husband and an ex-lover all in the village.
Cain dumped her after taking the £2.5 million they stole from the Kings and leaving her with nothing.
Sadie, on the other hand, has more than rebuilt herself since then.
At this point, no character in Emmerdale history is more desperate for a comeback than Joe.
He vanished the day Kim returned to the village, and we were robbed of a confrontation between the two.
But if Joe returns for vengeance against his step-grandmother, everything might be made right.
And who knows, maybe he’ll join forces with another of her foes?
Steve Marchant is one of the few characters from the soap’s long history who truly deserves a comeback.
He was last seen being dragged to prison after Kim falsely accused him of all of her crimes, leaving him with a vehement hatred for her.
And it appears that he has never sought vengeance in the years since.
What better time for him to return than Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary to give Kim the foe she deserves? And to give viewers what they want, Steve actor Paul Opacic’s recent appearance on Coronation Street was a hit!
