EastEnders fans reveal their demands for show as new boss takes over

EastEnders fans have aired their requests for a new boss to take over the programme.

As Executive Producer, Chris Clenshaw will take over from Jon Sen. Jon took a leave of absence to manage Casualty and two new BBC dramas.

Many fans have taken to the Digital Spy forums to express what they would like the new executive to do for the show.

One person said: “All I want is for the writers to start writing for the characters and not fit the character around the plot.

“I don’t care about new characters or returnees really at this point, just give us some character based dynamics and the audience will be more forgiving of other shortcomings.”

A second said: “Not to have silly exits like that of Iqra last night. Absolutely pathetic.”

Another user replied: “Agreed. I felt really bad for the character and actress. Considering Iqra was on the show for almost 3 years, the way she left the show was abysmal. She deserved better, at least a goodbye scene with her girlfriend Mila?

A fourth wrote: “I’d put Phil and Sharon on a long cruise ship holiday, I want to slap them down whenever they are on screen .

“Ben, Peter, and Whitney were in desperate need of growth… They must no longer be trapped in their teen narrative or transformed into caricatures of their fathers. Jay, Lola, and Callum are also in the works.”

And fifth user said: “A lot less Philth would be fab!”

Chris Clenshaw is no stranger to television. He’s worked on a number of TV productions, including Holby City, where he was a producer. He previously worked for four years on EastEnders.

He has worked on the show as a Storyliner, Script Editor, Story Producer, and Producer in the past.
