BBC EastEnders Lucy Beale actress unrecognisable 26 years after debut on soap

Lucy Beale’s character was killed off in a major storyline in 2014.

Casey Anne Rothery, who played Lucy Beale on BBC’s Eastenders for 26 years, is unrecognizable. She portrayed Ian Beale’s daughter and Peter Beale’s twin sister, who were first introduced in 1993.

Throughout Lucy’s life, she was played by four different actresses. Eva Brittin-Snell was the first actress to play Lucy, with Casey taking over in 1996 and playing Lucy until 2004.

Melissa Suffield then played Lucy Beale, a teen who wreaked havoc on Albert Square until 2010. Hetti Bywater was the final actress to play Lucy, and she remained in the role until her death in 2014.

Lucy had developed a drug habit and was having an affair with Jake Wood’s character, Max Branning. Lucy was found murdered, and Max was wrongfully imprisoned for the crime, which came as a huge shock.

Bobby, Lucy’s younger brother, was eventually revealed to have hit her over the head with a music box during an argument in an attempt to stop her from making ‘everyone unhappy.’ Jane, Bobby’s stepmother, discovered the crime and covered it up to protect her son.

Casey has stayed out of the spotlight since leaving the show and hasn’t appeared in any other television shows. She is a frequent user of social media, where she posts photos from her daily life.

Fans were astounded to see the difference between Casey as a child star and as a young woman when they saw the photos.
