BBC EastEnders: Most likely characters to take over the Queen Vic revealed after Danny Dyer quit with Sharon Watts missing out

Danny Dyer is leaving EastEnders after nine years to pursue a new career with rival broadcaster Sky.

When his character leaves Albert Square, the Queen Vic will require a new landlord or lady.

At least eight characters are expected to take his position, according to William Hill, with Phil Mitchell and Kat Slater topping the list with odds of 9/4.

Initially, Phil (Steve McFadden) and his brother Grant (Ross Kemp), as well as Grant’s fiancee Sharon Watts, owned the Queen Vic (Letitia Dean).

Until the mid-1990s, the Mitchell brothers owned the bar, which then passed to Dan Sullivan (Craig Fairbrass).

Dan was subsequently duped into signing ownership over to Peggy Mitchell by Phil (Barbara Windsor).

The Queen Vic was once again in the hands of Dirty Den Watts (Leslie Grantham), who made a comeback to the soap in 2003.

Den’s daughter Sharon inherited the tavern after his death and eventually returned it to Phil and Peggy.

Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), the other fan favorite, joined her husband Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) as the pub’s landlady in 2010.

Kat departs the Queen Vic in 2012 after having an affair with Derek Branning, leaving Alfie in charge.

Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) became Alfie’s landlady after they married in late 2013.

They’re the odds-on favorites to succeed Mick, but a recently returned Jannie Butcher (Charlie Brooks) is also in the race to manage the bar (7/2), after previously attempting to acquire it.

Mick and his wife Linda have been running the tavern since Phil sold it to them.

Another contender is Mick’s mother, Shirley Carter (11/2), who worked as a landlady at the Queen Vic after moving in with her sister Tina and Mick after he purchased it.

Shirley’s father, Stan, handed her £10,000 to invest in the bar and buy a portion, making her the couple’s co-landlady.

With odds of 8/1, Sharon Watts is also in the mix. She briefly controlled the bar in 2020, but was forced to sell it back to Mick and Linda after Phil was blackmailed by Max Branning (Jake Wood).

Tom Cotton (Brian Connolly) with odds of 11/2, son of Dot Cotton’s first husband Charlie, who joined the series last year, is another character put into the mix.

Tom was revealed to be Dotty Cotton’s father on Christmas Day of last year (Milly Zero).

Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) are the last two people expected to run the Queen Vic, both having odds of 7/1.

Suki first appeared on the serial in 2020, and she is reunited with her children after stating she had cancer – which turned out to be a lie in an effort to restore her children’s confidence.

She is the current owner and employee of the Minute Mart, a neighborhood corner store.

Eve, who came in Albert Square in October 2021 after serving time in prison, is attempting to reclaim her life.

She had previously worked as a solicitor.

As a result, when Danny departs the drama, there are plenty of individuals willing to take the Queen Vic from him.
