Coronation Street confirms Christmas breakthrough for Sam Blakeman storyline

But will it last?

Following the devastating death of his mother Natasha, Sam Blakeman is destined to have a major breakthrough over the holidays, according to Coronation Street.

Sam (Jude Riordan) hasn’t spoken anything since Natasha (Rachel Leskovac) was fatally shot by Harvey Gaskell — something that has worried his father Nick Tilley (Ben Price).

On Boxing Day, he and partner Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) are pleased when they overhear Sam talking to pal Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) on the walkie-talkies she was given for Christmas.

Nick’s joy at Sam finally breaking his quiet is short-lived, however, when he discovers that the kid has learned that he and Leanne were listening in on them. Will Sam revert to his old behavior of not speaking, or will he get the courage to work through his sadness with his father?

As Sam continues to deal with the impact of losing his mother in such a tragic way, actor Ben Price, who plays Nick, complimented Riordan for his “great” performance back in November.

“He’s incredible, and what’s even better is that he has his own mind and understands exactly what he wants to do.” “I’m just interested in working with him as an actor and on an equal footing,” he said of the young star’s abilities. “We don’t over-talk it when we’re doing the scenes.” He has a very natural and instinctive personality.

“He’s really low-key and genuine, and I hope it comes across in the sequences so that the relationship feels genuine.”
