Coronation Street icon Dev Alahan’s new love interest unveiled in affair twist?

Dev Alahan, a CORONATION STREET businessman, has never had much luck with romance, but could the return of a former resident of the cobbles be the catalyst for him to finally settle down?

On Coronation Street, Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) has been trying to get over his ill-fated romance with Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove). When Jospeh Brown (William Flanagan) fled the cobblestones a few weeks ago, the corner shop owner thought he had found the woman of his dreams until it was revealed she had taken a share of the fundraising money collected. However, as Linda Hancock (Jacqueline Leonard), Joseph’s grandmother returns to Weatherfield in one of the ITV soap’s most unlikely twists, he may find a new love interest.

Despite the fact that they broke up after Bernie’s dark secret was revealed, Dev and his former lover have since reconciled.

They might have had a chance to rekindle their romance, but Bernie said their romance was over because of the way the businessman spoke to her.

Dev makes an attempt to win Linda’s favor when he sees her in the Rovers Return in upcoming scenes on the weeknight serial drama.

The corner shop owner is pleased to see Joseph’s grandmother has returned, and he makes an attempt to flirt with her while Bernie looks on.

Everything appears to be going well between Dev and Linda as they catch up on their lives over the last seven years.

Bernie can’t help but make some nasty remarks about Dev in front of his possible new love interest, Linda, because he’s jealous of him moving on with Linda.

Dev retaliates by explaining to Joseph’s grandmother what Bernie did with the fundraising money, as he dislikes feeling like an underdog.

As Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) is horrified by Dev’s comments, it’s clear that the former lovers will never rekindle their flame.

The corner shop owner also informed Linda that her grandson had gone missing for an extended period of time.

By this point, it appears that the businessman has snuffed out any chance of forming a romantic relationship with the returning character.

However, Jacqueline, who plays Linda, has addressed whether she believes her character and Dev will have a future romance.

The soap star said: “I mean, possibly. You can never say never, would you? I think it’s very possible. I mean, she doesn’t know his history.

“When we just found out that he’d had a dalliance with Bernie, that might put her off a little, but you never know.

“She is a single woman,” the returning cast member explained so if Linda does stick around, she could end up dating Dev.

Will the businessman, who has had a number of failed relationships in the past, make this one last?

Linda Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) and Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) are his teenage children, and she could be a wonderful mother figure to them.

She first appeared on the cobbles in 2015 as the estranged mother of Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote) and Izzy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote) (Cherylee Houston).

Because Linda had missed out on being a mother to her own two daughters, being a parent figure to the Alahan twins could give her another chance at motherhood.

The twins will have to decide whether Linda is right for their father after seeing him go from relationship to relationship.

Could they be the ones to mess things up for Dev this time, or will they accept that he is genuinely trying to work things out with the returning character?

Jacqueline has also spoken about Dev informing her that Joseph had gone missing a few weeks ago, something Chesney Brown should have informed her of (Sam Aston).

“Linda can’t believe this,” the soap star said. She can’t believe Chesney hasn’t informed her about Joseph’s disappearance.

“And that he’s been through such a horrible ordeal,” the actress continued.

Jacqueline has recently photographed filming scenes with the actors who play Chesney and Joseph at an airport.

Could Dev’s comments be the push she needs to leave rather than pursue a romance with him, given that this indicates she will be leaving again in the not-too-distant future?

It doesn’t rule out the possibility of a future romance blossoming, as the actor who plays Dev, Jimmi has assured fans that he will not be leaving the show.

The soap stalwart said: “Coronation Street is just this brilliant, brilliant program, to work for.

“It feels like home, and I never forget how lucky I am to be able to work on something I enjoy.”

“I think to myself, ‘Is there anything I’d really like to go out there and do more than I like doing Corrie?’ “The answer to that is, ‘No’. If there was, I’d do it,” he continued in an interview with The Mirror, meaning there is plenty of time for more romances in the future.
