Fans believe Joel Deering of Coronation Street may kill her after Dee-Dee Bailey revealed him to them on Monday night’s episode.
Watchers of Corrie were glued to the screen when Channique Sterling-Brown’s character, Dee-Dee Bailey, revealed the dark truths of her dodgy fiance, Joel Deering (Calum Lill).
In Monday’s compelling episode, the convoluted story of Joel—who attempted to bury his history with Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) by abandoning her for dead—broke down catastrophically.
Lauren not only survived but came back pregnant and became a target for Joel’s murderous plan to drug her and kill the unborn child. In a shocking twist, Lauren’s baby was born alive after premature labour, foiling Joel’s sinister plot.
On Monday, eagle-eyed Dee-Dee sniffed out a lie from Joel about a necklace he said he got for Lauren, leading her to deduce the ugly truth after discovering the name of the jewellery shop. But it was at the hospital where the drama hit fever pitch, as Dee-Dee realised Joel fathered Lauren’s child and was present at the birth – all while Joel lurked outside, listening to every word.
In a moment of realisation, Dee-Dee confronted Lauren with her suspicions: “Knowing the power you would have over him for the rest of his life…Lauren, could Joel have given you something to make you go into labour?”
“What?” A clearly mortified Lauren responded as Dee-Dee exclaimed: “Could he have given you something?”
As she pondered the possibility, Lauren recalled that Joel had prepared a meal for her that day and watched her consume it before departing. Shortly thereafter, she went into labour.
Later, Dee-Dee and Lauren visited the police station to report Joel. However, Joel was already there, informing officers that he had slept with Lauren “before she disappeared”.
The episode concluded with Joel being arrested by DS Swain (Victoria Myers), but Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) intervened, stating that Joel claimed Lauren had taken abortion pills.
“She has been trying to take me down,” Joel maintained as a tearful Lauren protested: “No, I haven’t. I would never hurt my baby.”
“You’re a liar, you’re a liar,” she yelled before DS Swain stated: “I am sorry to do this, but I am going to have to ask you a few more questions under caution.”
After the hour-long episode, fans flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts and theories about what might happen next.
Many speculate that Joel will murder Dee-Dee, while others believe Kit will assist Joel in avoiding any charges. One fan speculated on X: “Joel is going to kill DeeDee… #corrie.”
“Don’t get yourself killed Dee Dee. We like you #Corrie,” one fan chimed in, while another agreed: “#corrie Joel will murder somebody before he leaves the show.”
Another viewer noted: “Oh, he’s broken the sneer of death out, someone is gonna get it #Corrie.”
“I’d forgotten that Kit falsified evidence. Why? He’s an odd one,” a fifth fan remarked, while a sixth observed: “Kit is a dirty cop. Of course, he believes Joel #Corrie.”
“Kit is gonna be on his side cos otherwise he will be in trouble with planting evidence to get Nathan sent down #corrie,” another added.
The question is, will Joel end up framing Lauren before killing Dee-Dee for her betrayal?
