Coronation Street pregnancy as beloved resident expecting baby – but who is the father?

CORONATION STREET has been rocked by a number of unexpected pregnancies in the past, but as a new romance unfolds on the ITV soap, one couple may find out they’re expecting a child.

Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) hasn’t had a boyfriend on Coronation Street in a long time because she’s been concentrating on her studies. Following a recent upskirting scandal at school, the adolescent is now planning to attend university and has become a campaigner for women’s rights. In upcoming scenes on the weeknight serial drama, she will be drawn to Jacob Hay (Jack Ryan), the former villain of the ITV soap, and this new relationship could lead to the young couple learning they’re expecting a child. But how will Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) react when she learns that her daughter is planning to start a family?

The new romance hasn’t started onscreen yet because Amy and Jacob are still sworn enemies, as they demonstrated when they ran into each other recently.

Amy isn’t ready to forgive Jacob for what he did to her cousin, Simon Barlow (Alex Bain), because the former drug dealer was the one who got him involved with the gang.

However, with the Barlow teen set to star in a tense storyline later this year, it appears that this is where her affair with her foe will begin.

Jacob appears to have played a role in her ordeal in some way, and he will want to make amends in some way.
Recent paparazzi photos from the show’s filming have shown the two enjoying a picnic on a boat in the winter air.

They’ll be away from people like Tracy, who will be highly critical of their new relationship because she knows about Jacob’s past.

As a result of this, the couple will spend a lot more time together as they fall in love, which Amy’s mother will have to accept.

As things progress, the young couple may begin sleeping together, and they will want to be protected, given Amy’s previous pregnancy.

Because she wasn’t ready to be a mother at such a young age, she had an abortion as a result of this storyline in 2019.

Even though they are still in the early stages of their relationship, they can see that they are both ready to start a family, despite not expecting to be parents.

This baby has the potential to unite them and make them stronger than ever, but Tracy would be a formidable opponent.

The stalwart would be furious if she found out her daughter was pregnant again, and with university only a few months away, she could advise her to think about her future options.

Despite being warned, Amy could tell her mother that no matter what she did, the teen would carry the pregnancy to term.

Tracy could kick Amy out of the house and tell her and Jacob to find their own place to live if she doesn’t want anything to do with her daughter because she has defied her.

Will the soap veteran, however, come to regret her decision when she learns that her pregnant daughter is living on the streets?

When speaking to Express.co.uk and other outlets, executive producer Iain MacLeod teased this new storyline.

The soap boss said: “We also really liked the idea of pairing Jacob up with somebody who is historically quite well behaved and wouldn’t say boo to a goose.

“That’s Amy Barlow! We thought, ‘How would Tracy and Steve react to Amy suddenly ending up in a romantic relationship with possibly the most unsuitable boyfriend they’ve ever heard of?’

“Steve and Tracy try to strategise it, trying things like reverse psychology, freezing her out, cutting her off financially.

“All of these things just make things worse and worse, to comedy effects. In the end, they have to bite the bullet and try to get along with this lad.”

Elle, who plays Amy, has opened up about what it was like to play the teenage baby storyline a few years ago, and how she felt when she was told her character would be the one to find out she was pregnant.

Elle elaborated: “When they say, ‘We’ve got a really big storyline planned,’ it’s a bit nerve-wracking because it’s a lot to take on.

“Obviously, you don’t want to do it incorrectly, and you want to portray it correctly because it is such a significant issue for many teenagers.

“So I just wanted to do it right, and seeing how it was written gave me a boost of confidence because I knew it was done correctly.

“I was a little nervous at first because I knew how much work had gone into it with all the research and stuff,” she told Radio Times. “But once we got into it, it was really easy to do.”

Kate, who plays Tracy, also spoke out during Amy’s pregnancy, saying that it would be difficult for her character to adjust.

Kate clarified: “She was so shocked and angry at the time that she hadn’t given much thought to what had prompted Amy to act so rashly.

“However, if she had taken the time to think about it, she might have realized that this occurred around the time Amy was attempting to get their attention with the family contract, and she and Steve were doing everything they could to avoid following the rules.”

Tracy was calm about her daughter’s pregnancy at the time, despite not knowing who the father was at the time.

Will her outrage, however, cost her a future relationship with her daughter and grandchild?
