Lydia Chambers, the troublemaker on Coronation Street, has lied about everything since she first appeared on the ITV soap as Adam Barlow’s former lover. Could one of her deepest secrets be revealed as a result of the absence of a key character from the plot?
Lydia (Rebecca Ryan) is about to rip apart Adam (Sam Robertson) and Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) marriage on Coronation Street for the sake of revenge. She has been meticulously planning her former lover’s downfall as she has made out he is having an affair behind his wife’s back, feeling aggrieved by his treatment of her upon her arrival on the cobbles. In upcoming scenes on the ITV soap, he will try to prove his innocence by claiming he has no idea what’s going on, but Lydia may be caught off guard if it is revealed that her son isn’t hers.
She was joined by her young son Finn Chambers when the troubled character first appeared in Weatherfield late last year.
At Bessie Street Primary School, the youngster was in the same class as Sarah’s son Harry Platt (Freddie and Isaac Rhodes), which is how the two women became friends.
The young boy has long been assumed to be Adam’s, as he fathered him during a six-month relationship with Lydia.
However, given the ticking time bomb nature of this secret and the importance of the child to the plot, he has been absent from the action ever since.
Viewers watching the drama unfold at home have taken to Twitter to express their displeasure with his absence.
“Seriously Lydia don’t you have a son at home to look after!!!!! #corrie,” Helen wrote on the social media platform.
Bredrew made the following comment: “”Hasn’t Lydia got a son to deal with instead?” Ruth added, “I guess Lydia’s son is taking care of himself #Corrie.” #corrie.”
Craig had this to say: “Lydia is next…
Love, you’re unconcerned about your son? “Who’s looking after Lydia’s son?” Gilly asks on #corrie. She’s never in her house! #Corrie.”
Sarah posed the following question to the audience: “Is Lydia’s son on his way up the magical stairwell? She never appears to have him on her mind. #Corrie #CoronationStreet #Corrie #CorrieStreet #CorrieStreet #Corrie”
“Is it just me, or has Lydia’s son vanished since the Christmas market?” Samantha made a comment.
Despite the fact that questions about Finn’s whereabouts have persisted, his absence could have been written in on purpose.
This is due to the possibility that the youngster is not Lydia’s son, but rather her nephew, and that the boy has no connection to Adam.
It’s possible that the day she was at the Christmas market coincided with the day she was supposed to be watching her sister’s young son.
Finn threw another complication into the mix when his appearance made Adam wonder if the boy was his son.
This could have been a bonus for the troublemaker, but she could be caught off guard as the lawyer begins to look for flaws in her plans.
