Coronation Street‘s Emma Brooker fears for her future next week after getting tied up in Scott Emberton’s web of deceit.
Emma (Alexandra Mardell) lives to regret accepting a bribe from Scott after the villain’s crimes catch up with him in upcoming scenes.
This Friday’s hour-long episode (October 30) sees Emma overhear Scott as he speaks privately to Jenny Connor about his crimes – past and present.
When Scott (Tom Roberts) realizes that Emma heard every word, he offers her £5,000 in exchange for her silence and points out that she can donate the cash to Oliver Battersby’s fund.
Emma accepts the cash but panics next week when she learns that Scott has been arrested for the Bistro robbery.
A horrified Emma confides in her friend Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu) about the situation, explaining that she took a share of the money and gave it to her father Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) to help pay Oliver’s legal fees.
Alina advises Emma that she needs to get the money back before this spirals out of control, but it may already be too late as a police officer arrives to ask Emma some questions.
When quizzed by the police, Emma tries to cover up the truth rather than taking an honest approach.
Feeling guilty and desperate, Emma later ends up confessing everything to Steve, who then passes the worrying news on to Leanne (Jane Danson) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor).
Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) is stunned when he learns that stolen money has been used to pay Oliver’s legal fees.
Imran urges Emma to speak to the police again and be honest this time, but will she take his advice?
