Coronation Street’s Lydia vows to destroy Adam’s life as her plans escalate

Lydia Chambers of Coronation Street has intensified her plans to end Adam’s life.

Lydia’s (Rebecca Ryan) plan to persuade Sarah (Tina O’Brien) that she is having an affair with her husband Adam came to a head in Friday’s (February 25) hour-long episode (Sam Robertson).

Lydia’s obsession is with Adam, who she has been stalking and has set out to split up his marriage.

When Sarah answered the phone from a hotel, she was informed that they had discovered a gold ladies watch after Adam’s last visit.

Sarah didn’t believe Adam when he denied having company and began to suspect he was having an affair.

Sarah told Lydia about the phone call when she got to work, and she tried to persuade herself to trust Adam by admitting that “hotels make mistakes all the time.”

Lydia did, however, leave Sarah with an important hint to continue her own investigation, telling her to “stop torturing yourself and don’t go snooping through receipts.”

So, how did Sarah react? Examine his receipts and you’ll find a payment to a posh London lingerie store.

Sarah discovered that Adam spent £180 on a bottle of house champagne and oysters after an emotional phone call with the hotel.

Surprised “He doesn’t even like oysters,” Sarah said nervously, before summoning Lydia to confront her about having “oysters with your married man, washed down with champagne.”

“We really never meant for you to get hurt,” Lydia pretended that she and Adam were having an affair and told Sarah.

Sarah believed Lydia’s words and pretended they “couldn’t help themselves” and that “whatever he wants, he gets” with Adam as she sobbed.

Lydia then said it was a “relief” to finally come clean before Adam cut her off in the middle of their heated exchange.

Lydia insisted that they were having an affair, while Adam denied it. Before handing him the receipts, Sarah explained that she had seen the “evidence” in “black and white.”

When Adam realized Lydia was behind it all, he accused her of being “crazy” and setting him up. While Sarah ejected Lydia, Adam remained to persuade her of the truth.

Sarah sobbed as Adam told her she’s crazy if she believes Lydia instead of him, because Lydia has clearly been “determined to tear [them] apart.”
Lydia’s elaborate scheme to make the affair seem realistic had taken a lot of planning, and the apparent evidence was so incriminating to Sarah that Adam kicked her out.

On the street, Adam confronted Lydia, telling her that it was all “payback” for screwing up her life, and that she would “dismantle” his life and there would be “nothing [he] can do about it.”
