Vinny Panesar, a young entrepreneur on EASTENDERS, may be leaving the BBC soap in the coming weeks after learning what his love interest, Dotty Cotton, has been up to behind his back.
Since his first appearance on EastEnders in 2019, Vinny (Shiv Jalota) has been in love with Dotty (Milly Zero). The couple has had a tumultuous relationship history, with their on-again, off-again relationship leaving the businessman more perplexed than ever. He would go to any length for the woman of his dreams, and he recently offered her a place to stay at the Panesar residence to get her off the streets on the BBC soap. However, it appears that she is planning to return his generosity, albeit with irreversible consequences.
Dotty told Vinny that if he accepted his invitation to live with him, there would be no guarantees about where they could go as a couple.
She had previously used his love for her to manipulate situations, but this was the first time she appeared to be honest with him.
As a result, the young businessman does not expect the troublemaker to reciprocate his feelings, but he would like to believe that mutual respect exists.
Unfortunately, Dotty has never had much respect for anyone, as evidenced by Rocky’s (Brian Conley) true identity being revealed and it being revealed that the pair had been defrauding Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy).
With Vinny being the last person on the Square who appears to respect her, viewers would hope she would eventually fall in love with the man who has given her everything.
She could be eyeing up another man to lay her claws into now that she’s back on her feet and her troubled ways have surfaced.
Milly, who plays Dotty, has spoken out about her character’s future and how what Vinny learns about her could lead to him “getting hurt.”
Milly elaborated: “She genuinely cares about him; he’s her best friend, and they’re currently dating, but she’s missing that kind of sexual arousal.
“She knows Vinny would go to any length for her, and she’s going through a rough patch.
“She was homeless, and saw, at that moment, ‘He’ll do anything for me. I’m going to have to use him in order to keep a roof over my head.'”
Hinting at a long road ahead for the youngsters, she added: ” I think girls want what they can’t have a lot of the time and Dotty’s probably used to going for bad boys and stuff like that.”
“I think Vinny will likely end up getting hurt at some point,” Milly added in an interview with Digital Spy but will she really betray Vinny?
In Walford, there are plenty of eligible bachelors, including her ex-boyfriend Peter Beale (Dayle Hudson).
He could see a different side to Dotty as she tries to get his attention now that he isn’t pining after Ash Panesar (Gurlaine Kaur Garcha).
Peter could act on his feelings for the club manager because nothing or no one is stopping him, and they could end up having an affair.
They’d try to keep it a secret because Dotty knows Vinny would be furious if he found out what she’d been up to behind his back.
On the Square, however, secrets don’t stay hidden for long, and Vinny could even walk in on the couple during a steamy rendezvous.
The young businessman, heartbroken, would tell Dotty how wrong she was to betray him after all she had done for him, and he would finally give up trying to be her friend.
He could make a plan to leave Walford, not wanting to be reminded of his past in Walford and not wanting to see his love interest every day.
He could move closer to his nephew, Tyrion Ahmed, whose father, Jags Panesar (Amar Adatia), died last year after closing down his phone business in the laundrette and tying up a few loose ends.
It’s possible that the character will leave quietly because he doesn’t want anyone to know he’s gone, especially since he never felt appreciated by his mother, Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal).
Vinny would be the second Panesar family member to leave Walford in the last year, as their numbers continue to dwindle.
Last year, Jags was killed in prison, while Ash left the Square earlier this month after yet another altercation with Suki.
With Vinny’s possible departure, the family’s matriarch and Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol) would be the only ones left.
Since the family of five was introduced in late 2019/early 2020, they’ve been two of the main characters with storylines.
Shiv, the actor who plays Vinny, has spoken out about his feelings for Dotty and why he feels so close to her.
“Milly and I have talked about it a lot,” Shiv explained. Because neither Vinny nor Dotty has a father, there’s more to their relationship than just a romantic one.
“They rely on and help one another. They’re also hustlers. And they’re bitterly opposed to their own blood and family.
“‘It’ll be interesting to see what happens because there’s a lot of potential for a story where they help and support one another.
“They’re there for each other,” he told Metro.co.uk, but if Dotty does have an affair, it will be clear that their bond wasn’t as strong as Vinny thought.
