EastEnders’ Isaac Baptiste actor quits soap becoming sixth star to leave in a year

Isaac Baptiste has left EastEnders, making Stevie Basaula the sixth star to leave the BBC One soap in less than a year.

Over the weekend, speculation about the actor’s future on the soap was rife after fellow EastEnders star Shona McGarty shared photos on Instagram of partygoers at a farewell bash thrown by the actor.

Producer Kate Oates confirmed the sad news on Monday, saying “incredible” Stevie would be missed in a statement.

“During his time on EastEnders, Stevie has been a huge asset to the show, not least through his incredible performance in Isaac’s schizophrenia story,” she said.

“He will always be a part of one of our most iconic families as a member of the Trueman family.” “We will miss him and wish him the best of luck in his new endeavors,” Katie added.

Stevie, who debuted as Isaac in January 2020, expressed his delight at being given the chance to star in one of the “biggest shows in the country.”

“What a dream come true!” exclaims the narrator. “I’m grateful to have worked on one of the country’s biggest shows for over two years; there’s nothing like it,” he said.

“I appreciate everything you’ve done for me. “I’m proud to have been a part of some important work and to have made friends and memories that I’ll cherish for a long time,” Steveie said, thanking the cast and crew for helping him “grow.”

“EastEnders has been an important part of my development as a young man and as an actor, and I’m excited and ready to embark on this new chapter of my career,” he said.

The news comes just hours after Shona, who plays Whitney Dean on the BBC soap, appeared to let the cat out of the bag by inadvertently confirming Steveie’s departure.

She shared photos of a leaving party thrown by Stevie and Zack Morris, who plays Keegan Baker on the soap, on Instagram and thanked them both in a post on her Stories for “letting her capture their blessed event.”

Fans speculated that Stevie had already completed his final scenes, and his departure follows Zack’s announcement that he would be leaving EastEnders after five years.
