Alfie Moon, who played Phil Mitchell in Eastenders, could be called back to the BBC soap in the coming weeks to assist him with his exit from the Square.
Shane Richie’s character Alfie hasn’t seen on EastEnders since January 2019, when he left the soap when it was revealed he had an illegitimate kid with Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) cousin.
Kat has been dating Phil (Steve McFadden) in recent months after her marriage to the Walford icon fell apart when she realized he’d fathered another woman’s child.
She could, however, turn to him for assistance if she suspects her current beau is about to make a life-changing move by leaving the BBC soap.
The drama begins next week with the ramifications of Phil’s role in Vincent Hubbard’s (Richard Blackwood) death being reported to the police.
Denise Fox (Diane Parish) will have already prevented the mobster from contacting their son at this time, leaving him to ponder his next move.
He doesn’t like being told what to do, and after a year of fighting with Denise about Raymond (Michael Jose Pomares Clixte), Phil may have had enough.
Although Denise had hoped that her warning would be enough to convince the father of her son to stay away, Kat and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) believe they can solve the problem.
They try to talk to Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) and Kim Fox (Tameka Empson), but the Foxes insist on telling the cops everything.
Meanwhile, Phil is plotting his escape from Walford, but he believes he can take his small son with him as well.
According to future previews, Kat and Sharon will learn Phil’s desire to flee the country and realize they must walk carefully if they want to keep everyone on their side.
They aren’t quite as sleuthy as they had anticipated because Kim notices what they’re up to, but that just means they have to work harder.
The gangster realizes his intentions may be jeopardized, and it appears he will make a substantial offer to someone involved in the plot.
Despite the fact that Kat and Sharon are able to make amends with the Foxes, the former soon has something else on her mind.
She will make a life-changing decision next week, according to spoilers, and it may have something to do with her estranged husband, Alfie.
Alfie kidnapped his daughter Cherry and was gone for a few weeks before leaving the Square about three years ago.
Kat mistook the infant for one of her own children, causing panic on the Square.
Despite the fact that he eventually returned the infant, his actions meant that he was unable to remain in Walford and had to relocate.
If Phil took Raymond away, Kat would be concerned that he wouldn’t be able to return home since the police would be after him for more offenses.
As the week progresses, Phil will get information that will alter his plans to flee the Square with his son.
This could be Alfie’s entrance in Walford, as he attempts to reason with the thug about his ambitions.
The two men have never gotten along and have had their own spats in the past, but they’ll have to set that aside for now.
Hearing about Alfie’s ordeal and how he is unable to see his daughter since he was taken, Phil may begin to doubt himself.
Will Alfie’s words of wisdom be effective, and will the mobster realize that departing the Square will land him in more danger than staying and fighting the charges leveled against him?
Shane, who plays Alfie, has appeared in a number of projects after leaving the soap in 2019, including in the cast of I’m A Celebrity… in 2020. I have to get out of here!
Earlier this year, the soap star was asked if he and his alter-ego will return at some point in the future.
“I believe Alfie is still alive… because I talk to Jessie [Wallace, who plays Kat] all the time,” Shane explained. Alfie is still on the run in Spain, working as a bartender on the Costa del Sol.
“I think he still owes money to Phil. I know Kat and Phil are bumping ugly. They’re getting together. So who knows.
“There might be a chance Alfie could turn up and spoil their little party. But you didn’t hear that from me,” he told ITV’s Lorraine.
Seeing Kat again may convince Alfie that he has a cause to fight for, so may he do the exact opposite of what Kat has requested?
Phil would no longer have the mobster on his back for payments if he left Walford, and he would have Kat all to himself.
If he could stop Phil from leaving, he’d earn some brownie points with his wife for being the hero of the hour.
