EastEnders legend Sid Owen and his fiancée Victoria Shores welcome first baby together

This wonderful news comes after the couple, who are planning to marry, revealed last year that they had suffered a devastating miscarriage. They didn’t say anything about the baby’s name or gender in their post, though.

Sid Owen, who plays Sid Owen on EastEnders, has become a father for the first time.

Over the weekend, the soap legend and his fiancée Victoria Shores welcomed their first child together.

Sid, who was best known for playing Ricky Butcher on the BBC show from 1988 to 2012, praised Victoria as he shared the happy news on social media.

Alongside a photo with his wife-to-be following the birth, the 49 year old said: “Been a long a day. But. Can I say. I love you Victoria. Thank you for our baby.”

In their post, the couple did not reveal the baby’s name or gender.

Sid never expected to start a family in his late 40s, and he described his wife’s pregnancy as a “miracle.”

It came after the couple revealed that they had lost a baby last year due to a miscarriage.

He told The Sunday Mirror: “I never ever dreamt I would have kids. The older you get the more distant that idea seems. You give up hope sometimes, so it is a miracle it has happened.”

“We’d spoken about it when we talked about marriage but I just didn’t think it was going to happen. I was completely shocked and over the moon.”

After Sid revealed the news on Instagram, his EastEnders co-stars were quick to congratulate him.

“Congratulations to you all,” Patsy Palmer, who played Ricky’s long-time on-screen love interest Bianca Jackson, wrote.

While Danniella Westbrook, who played his childhood sweetheart Sam Mitchell continued: “Congratulations daddy and well done Victoria .”

Sid had previously been engaged to Carty Hubbard, but the couple had broken up in 2003.

Between 2006 and 2012, he was in a relationship with Polly Parsons.
