EastEnders return for classic character as actor drops hint?

EASTENDERS may soon see the return of a beloved character, as a former star of the BBC soap has expressed an interest in returning.

Michael Greco, a former EastEnders actor, has spoken out about his love for the long-running BBC soap. When he joined the EastEnders cast in 1998, he played Beppe di Marco. During an interview on ITV’s Loose Women on Tuesday, the actor discussed the soap and expressed his desire to return to reprise his role. Is it possible that Beppe will return to Albert Square soon?

Beppe left Walford almost 20 years ago, as loyal EastEnders viewers will recall.

The character learned that his mother had died of a heart attack in 2002.

Beppe sold his club to Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and left to care for his grieving family as a result of the devastating news.

After two decades away from the role, actor Michael has expressed interest in reprising it.

Michael looked back at an old clip of him acting alongside the late Barbra Windsor in the BBC soap while on Loose Women.

Host Ruth Langsford asked: “Can you believe how long ago that was?”

Michael replied: “25 years ago my first day was on set and I had Barbra Windsor there, and Ross Kemp, and Patsy Palmer, and Martine McCutcheon.”

The actor praised the long-running soap, revealing that he’d always been a fan of the show and still is.

He said: “I was the biggest EastEnders fan since I was a kid and it was an absolute pleasure to be on the show, which gave me an incredible life to be honest.

“I’m still a big fan of the show.” I understand it is going through some difficulties right now, but it will recover.

“They’ve got a producer in charge who adores the show and knows everything there is to know about it.”

“It’s just getting back to that kind of foundation of family values,” Michael explained, “and not spreading the stories too thin.”

Ruth questioned: “Would you ever go back?”

Michael instantly replied: “Yeah, I’d love to go back because I loved playing the character.

“I believe he has a lot more to offer,” the actor continued.

Ruth remarked, “Well, you had some great storylines, you know, you had the love triangle.”

“The love triangle with Tiffany and Grant [Mitchell] was my favorite storyline,” Michael revealed.

“I believe that’s when I won the hearts of a lot of people because Grant was the bad guy and I was the single dad.”

“Everybody was rooting for me,” the former soap-star enthused.
