EastEnders shares Dana pregnancy update as Bobby Beale’s proposal goes disastrously wrong

After tonight’s trip to Albert Square, EastEnders has cast doubt on Dana Monroe and Bobby Beale’s relationship, with the young couple facing new disapproval from Bobby’s family.

In last week’s episodes, Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) was taken aback when he learned that Dana (Barbara Smith) suspected she was pregnant, after Peter (Dayle Hudson) overheard Dana telling Mila and Kioni that she thought she was a few weeks along.

In tonight’s (January 31) episode, Bobby paid Kathy a visit and asked for a loan, intending to propose to Dana after learning that she is expecting his baby.

Dana’s father Harvey (Ross Boatman), unbeknownst to Bobby, had spotted his daughter’s pregnancy test, prompting Dana to admit that it had been a false alarm and she wasn’t pregnant after all.

“I’m not pregnant,” she confirmed. “You don’t need to worry – there’s nothing keeping me here.”

Meanwhile, Peter was shocked to learn of Aaron’s involvement with the far-right gang and advised his brother to avoid Dana.

“Dana hasn’t done anything,” Bobby said. “She’s having my baby, I can’t just abandon her… I’m not you or dad, I’m not running scared at the first sign of trouble.”

Before Bobby walked away in disgust, Peter insisted that he was only trying to protect Bobby and that his brother needed to tell Dana to get rid of the baby.

When Kathy later told Peter about Bobby’s plan to propose to Dana, Peter quickly told his grandmother what he had learned.

Unaware of Peter and Kathy’s conversation, Bobby tracked down Dana at work and pretended to have a question for her before getting down on one knee in front of Dana’s father, Harvey.

“Marry me?” he asked Dana. “I know we’re not together and I don’t blame you for not telling me, but I want you to know I’m here for you and the baby.”

Peter and Kathy barged in and exposed Aaron Monroe’s involvement in the far-right bomb plot over the New Year, as Dana admitted she wasn’t pregnant and Harvey urged Bobby to get up, calling his proposal a “beautiful gesture.”

“Do you think I’d let my grandson marry into a terrorist family?” Kathy screamed and demanded that Bobby return home right away.

Bobby sadly followed his grandmother’s orders at the end of the episode, leaving Dana and Harvey to ponder their next steps.
