EastEnders spoilers: Janine Butcher exits to give Mick Carter space

In tonight’s episode of EastEnders, Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) left Albert Square – and Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) – after telling Mick how she felt about him.

Mick was waiting for Janine at the Queen Vic with a large bouquet of flowers to thank her for ‘helping me sort my canister out.’ Janine surprised him by telling him that the flowers would most likely be dead by the time she returned – she was going to spend a few weeks with her sister Claire.

Mick tried to lighten the mood by saying that when she returned, she should call him and he’d ‘whack her back on the work rota,’ but it was clear that he was upset.

Janine later discovered him drowning his sorrows. ‘I have a cab waiting outside, but I couldn’t leave without doing this,’ she said, kissing him passionately.

Janine has told him that she adores him, but he has been ignoring her for months. She admitted she was afraid he only wanted her because his life was in ‘free fall,’ and that if things improved, he would reject her again.

Mick protested that he wouldn’t do it, but Janine said she couldn’t risk it and would give them some space to “see if this – us – is truly something.”

Mick, clearly smitten, said, ‘I think it could be.’

‘We’ll take a look at it,’ came the response. ‘You’re still a fantastic kisser,’ says the narrator.

Mick realized how much he was going to miss her, and this was the perfect parting shot.

When will Janine, on the other hand, return? Will Mick still have the same feelings?
