Carol Jackson of EASTENDERS may be expected to make a spectacular return to the Square as the ITV soap returns later this year. Her friend, Sonia Fowler, shared a desire for her long-lost father to be tracked down, but Carol must share some shocking news.
Members of EastEnders have watched Sonia Fowler (played by Natalie Cassidy) grow up on the show but very little of half of her backstory is understood. The lonely mum-of-one has struggled to cope with the decision of her daughter to leave Walford and she has decided to try to track her father in the BBC soap’s latest instalment. Might her investigation,
however, bring Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) back to deliver some shocking news? In 1993 Carol burst onto the scene working in the laundrette alongside Pauline Fowler (Wendy Richard). She and her partner Alan Jackson (Howard Antony) move to the Square and their four children.
Alan’s surname was shared by Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer), Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffney) and Sonia, but he was not their parent. Carol and Alan had one child, Billie Jackson (Devon Anderson) and fans of EastEnders never learned who Sonia ‘s father was for certain.
Her father is assumed to be Terry Cant but Sonia never knew her long-lost father or saw him. Carol had a one-night stand with the guy who was supposed to be the dad of Sonia, but the stalwart never felt the urge to try to track him down.
Over the last few weeks, though, she has felt increasingly lonely and decided it was time to find out more about her heritage. Sonia has said farewell to Bex Fowler (Jasmine Armfield) in recent episodes, as her father went on a traveling journey around the world.
The mother concerned was not pleased with Bex ‘s decision but Martin Fowler (James Bye) persuaded his ex-wife to let go of her. Bex and Sonia ‘s relationship had been strained for a while, as the family discovered that Dot Cotton (June Brown) had stolen money.
The nurse stole the money to defend Martin who was being blackmailed for being involved in a hit-and-run. When Sonia found arrangements for her baby, she refused to embrace them and hid her passport in the last resort effort to avoid Bex leaving.
The mother and daughter ultimately shared a tearful goodbye but Bex failed to keep her mum up to date on her adventures. As Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) confirmed Bex had been in touch with her, Sonia became shocked and rebuffed her invitation to come over for dinner.
Tiffany made up an explanation because it became clear that she did not want to share quality time with her auntie. Sonia later looked over Bex’s social media channels to see what her daughter got up to before turning her attention to her long-lost daddy.
Fans of EastEnders watched her type inside a search engine in the name of her father as she prepared to delve into her secret past. But this storyline could spark Carol’s return, who might reveal some heartbreaking news if she discovered the search for her daughter.
Sonia has never shown much interest in tracking down her father so Carol might have held back the shocking truth about her parentage in order to spare the feelings of her daughter. Will Sonia ‘s father is dead or maybe Carol lied and the father of her daughter is someone else entirely?
