After his estranged wife Tiffany (Maisie Smith) returns to support him, Keegan Butcher-Baker (Zack Morris) is set to leave EastEnders tonight.
Keegan has been a part of several prominent storylines since joining the show in 2017, including knife crime, bullying, and teen marriage.
The character’s departure comes after a dramatic week in which he dealt with the fallout from the arrest of serial killer Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith).
Gray was finally apprehended for the murders of his first wife, Keegan’s sister Chantelle (Jessica Plummer), and Walford favorites Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White) and Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami).
Keegan spiraled as he blamed himself for idolizing his brother-in-law and failing to notice Chantelle’s torment as he and his bereaved family dealt with the news that Chantelle had been abused and killed by her own husband.
Star Zack has been putting in some of his best work this week, as Keegan revealed the truth about their mother’s ordeal to niece and nephew Mia and Mack. When he later considered how much faith he had placed in Gray, the young man was filled with self-hatred.
After admitting that Gray was the one who put the money into his company, Keegan retaliated by torching his food truck after tense arguments with his mother Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) and Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths).
Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), seeing how broken Keegan was, called for help, and Tiff will be back in the Square on Thursday’s episode of the soap.
After their marriage imploded last year due to his fling with Dotty Cotton, Keegan will be taken aback by her reappearance (Milly Zero).
Tiffany was under the impression that he had given up on their future after her brother Liam Butcher (Alfie Deegan) intercepted her note to Keegan, but he is currently unaware of this.
Will Tiff be able to reach Keegan despite his struggles, or will he face serious consequences for his recent behavior? What’s more important, how will Keegan depart?
The return of co-star Maisie Smith helped Zack Morris tie up some loose ends for his exit, according to Metro.co.uk, which sounds promising!
‘It was pleasant, to be sure. ‘I had no idea it was happening,’ he admitted of Maisie’s return. ‘It was unexpected.’
‘With Tiffany leaving the way she did and the Liam situation, it neatly tied up all the loose ends.’ When she returned, I assumed that was the end of it. ‘At first, I was perplexed because it was such a dramatic conclusion, but then it made sense.’
‘It was a nice feeling for me to finish on a high, and hopefully for the fans as well,’ Zack added.
Will Keegan reunite with Tiffany and head off into the sunset for a new life with her now that he has that encouraging piece of information?
