Zack Morris’s character, Keegan Baker, will be leaving EastEnders soon, but the actor hinted that he had begun a new adventure a few weeks ago.
According to Metro.co.uk, Zack informed his bosses about his decision to leave last year, giving the show time to build up to an exit storyline.
The plot will emerge as part of Gray Atkins’ (Toby-Alexander Smith) demise, which is set to happen in March.
The Taylor family will be rocked to their core as the truth about Chantelle’s murder emerges, leaving Keegan reeling from the realization that the man who once took him under his wing is a monster.
Zack shared an image of himself wearing a jacket with dice on the sleeves three weeks ago on Instagram.
‘Those Who Never Roll The Dice Can Never Expect To Score A 6ix,’ he captioned the photo, possibly implying that he had ‘rolled the dice’ or taken the leap of faith and left the soap.https://www.instagram.com/p/CZXRfLcIFru/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=bdc89396-2fa1-439f-82ae-c8eeee53e173
Zack is a frequent Instagram user, sharing modeling shots and sharing what he does when he’s not filming as Keegan.
‘After five beautiful years on this incredible show, I have made the difficult decision to leave Walford and give Keegan Butcher-Baker some well-deserved rest,’ Zack said of his departure from the soap. To be honest, this show has changed my life for the better.
‘It will always have a special place in my heart for me.’ This show’s cast and crew deserve every award that comes their way. Making four episodes a week takes a lot of effort, love, and dedication, and it’s not something to be taken lightly.
‘This show has given me so much as a man, not just as an actor.’ These priceless lessons from EastEnders will stay with me for the rest of my life. This entire experience will remain in my mind as the greatest blessing I could have ever received. ‘I enjoyed every moment of it.’
‘Zack has been an incredible asset to EastEnders; not just as a brilliant actor, but as an amazing company member,’ said Kate Oates, Head of Continuing Drama, BBC Studios.
Zack has shone in important narratives such as the knife crime story; he’s broken hearts with his beautiful relationship with Tiffany Butcher, and he’ll soon take center stage once more as his sister’s killer is revealed.
‘Keegan from our screens and Zack from our Elstree family will be missed.’ He’s a fantastic talent, and we wish him the best of luck in the future.’
This week, Zack’s final scenes are being shot, and they will air at the start of spring.
