Emmerdale backlash as ITV soap hit with Ofcom complaints over Meena Jutla storyline

EMMERDALE has received Ofcom complaints from ITV viewers who were dissatisfied with the storyline of serial killer Meena Jutla.

Emmerdale viewers have been waiting for evil nurse Meena Jutla (played by Paige Sandu) to be caught for her murderous ways for the past few weeks. Meena has killed a number of villagers in previous episodes of the ITV soap, including Leanna Cavanagh (Mimi Slinger), Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale), and Ben Tucker (Simon Lennon).

Recently, the nurse attempted to murder her own sister, Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker), as well as Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson).

GP Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), on the other hand, deduced Meena’s plan and saved Manpreet and Vinny.

Despite a chase through the woods, Meena managed to get away from the cops and is now on the run.

Vinny recovered completely and was sent home, but Manpreet is fighting for her life after suffering a heart attack in the hospital.

Meena’s murder of Liam’s daughter has also left Liam in a state of shock.

Following the barn rescue, however, some viewers complained that the scenes were too much for them and claimed to have “switched off” from watching.

According to the most recent report from Ofcom, the ITV soap received 60 complaints about scenes that aired on January 12th.

On January 12, Liam revealed to Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) that Meena had lied about her pregnancy in an episode.

She was planning to kill Manpreet and Vinny while arranging for Billy to meet her, but she changed her mind when she learned Billy would be joining them.

Many soap fans have grown tired of Meena’s killing spree, with many pleading with ITV bosses for her to be caught.

Taking to social media, Bev tweeted: “I thought the Meena storyline was coming to an end today..seems not…can’t bear any more.”

Rakeem pleaded: “Lorddddddd please let tonight be the night Meena gets caught, I’ve had enough of this storyline.”

While Lily raged: “So we’ve put up with this for weeks and the outcome is Meena escapes? The question is when is she going to return to kill again? Ridiculous storyline.”

“Nah that can’t be it??? they can’t drag this storyline on for way too long just for Meena to get away with it all,” Leah pointed out.

Kalen said: “Not them dragging out this storyline for half a year only for Meena to get away.”

“Is anyone else disappointed with the #meena storyline’s conclusion? I know she can return, but it was a bit of a letdown “Georgina scribbled. Liam tried to persuade Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) to lend him his gun so he could go after Meena in scenes that aired earlier this week.

The mechanic initially refused to assist the doctor, but in the end, he decided to take Liam out into the middle of nowhere to show him how to use his shotgun.

Cain quickly regained his composure and advised Liam against doing anything foolish.
Liam, on the other hand, hasn’t given up and is hellbent on exacting vengeance on Meena.

It’ll only be a matter of time until Meena returns to the village.
