Emmerdale exit ‘sealed’ for Charity Dingle as she ‘relives’ killing horror in PTSD battle

EXCLUSIVE: Charity Dingle is having trouble adjusting after killing Chloe Harris’s father a few weeks ago.
Veteran character Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) of Emmerdale may have to spend some time away from the Yorkshire Dales while she struggles with PTSD on the ITV soap opera.

When Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) visits Charity in the next scenes, she acts as though she’s beginning to process everything that happened over the holiday season.

Watchers were taken aback around Christmas when Charity, in her haste to save Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), unintentionally turned murderous.

After kidnapping Mack, Damon Harris (Robert Beck) beat him until he was unconscious and tied him to a chair in an abandoned warehouse.

As fans will remember, Mack broke up with Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland), Damon’s daughter, in order to reconcile with Charity, his former spouse.

Although the police have concluded their inquiry into Harry’s death, Charity has been experiencing loud noises and flashbacks.

Emma, the actress from Charity, revealed to Express.co.uk and other publications prior to the murder that “she didn’t go out there to kill him – it was still in the heat of the moment.”

Rather than reminding herself that she was only attempting to save Mack’s life, she claimed her character is “constantly reliving that moment”.

“She’s never been in that situation before,” Emma continued. She has never, ever held a gun in her hands.

“I think it’s just so utterly traumatic and beyond anyone’s comprehension. I think it just troubles her to the point where she can’t really relate to anyone.”

Emma continued: “Yeah, she’s troubled. She’s constantly reliving the moment and I think, you know, it’s going to lead to a lot of PTSD within her.”

Charity has been finding it difficult to confide in anyone and is “putting walls up” around her as well as “going through her own hell”.

“She’s locking it all in and trying to compartmentalize it which makes it worse and she doesn’t know how to deal with it,” Emma admitted.

Could Charity end up leaving Emmerdale as she struggles with her PTSD? Would she return to the Dales, or could viewers soon be waving goodbye to the soap legend?

Her partner Mack might not even realise how much she is struggling because he has been preoccupied with stealing cars with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
