Mackenzie Boyd, the EMMERDALE troublemaker, is rumored to be planning to kidnap Johnny Woodfield from his mother, Vanessa Woodfield, in upcoming scenes on the ITV drama, and his actions could have disastrous effects.
Since his arrival in the Emmerdale hamlet last year, Mackenzie (played by Lawrence Robb) has almost transformed into a different character, as he has fallen enamored with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).
The two have taken on the roles of Bonnie and Clyde from the ITV soap, causing mayhem by dabbling in illegal activity. However, Moira Barton’s (Natalie J Robb) brother may take severe measures to assure his partner’s happiness in future episodes of the weeknight serial drama, which may include snatching Johnny (Luca Hepworth).
The return of Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick), who hasn’t been seen in the town in over a year and a half, has delighted viewers in this week’s episodes.
Charity’s friendship with Mackenzie, the man with whom the stalwart cheated on the mother-of-one, has left her shattered.
Vanessa, now in a new relationship, will strive to move on with her life and raise her baby with her partner, excluding her ex-boyfriend from his life.
Charity, despite having four children of her own, will want to visit Johnny because he has become a fourth son to her.
This is where Mackenzie may enter the picture, as he realizes that his girlfriend longs to be a mother to her former stepson.
The drama begins when Vanessa returns to the town for a brief visit and has some news to share with Charity.
She notifies her former boyfriend that she and her son Johnny, as well as her new partner, would be returning to the Dales permanently.
This has left the stalwart perplexed, since she had hoped to begin her connection with Mackenzie without Vanessa watching over their shoulders.
Charity makes the request that she gets to spend some time with Johnny after not seeing him in over a year because her ex-girlfriend lives in the village.
They get into an argument because the mother of one doesn’t want her criminal ex to spend time with her young kid.
Mackenzie could utilize his criminal skills to kidnap the boy, believing that he must do everything he can to make his spouse happy.
Charity would be able to spend more time with him this way, but taking the child would cause chaos in the Dales.
Vanessa would be upset since she would have no idea where her son is or with whom he is, and her first thought would be to blame her ex-lover.
Charity would make it apparent that she had nothing to do with Johnny’s disappearance and that she is equally concerned about him.
She may be enraged, though, if she realizes it was her boyfriend who kidnapped the child so she could spend time with him.
However, she may use this to her advantage by returning to the hamlet with the youngster in her arms, causing Vanessa to hail her as a hero.
Charity may explain that she found Johnny walking around the edges of the Dales, saddened by his mother and his stepmother’s dispute.
For Johnny’s sake, the two could choose to bury the hatchet, bringing them closer as Vanessa allows her ex to spend time with her son.
Mackenzie would be distraught as he saw his fiancée rekindle her relationship with her ex-girlfriend while raising their son together.
Will Moira’s brother concede defeat and end his relationship with Charity, or will he take steps to ensure she is his and no one else’s?
Lawrence, who plays Mackenzie, has discussed how his character has evolved since his arrival in the community.
“I always felt Mack was going to be someone that people would either hate to adore or love to loathe,” Lawrence remarked.
“My initial idea was that he was going to be quite evil, yet Mack’s kind of morphed into someone who’s always getting up to no good.
“But actually his heart is in the right place – especially when it comes to family, and now I guess Charity,” he continued.
On his alter-ego’s relationship, the soap star added: “No one really knew what way it was going to go the entire time – though I think Mack had genuinely fallen for Charity.”
“I guess with any ‘Friends With Benefits’ scenario, emotions start to get heightened and feelings develop, even though they didn’t want them to,” Lawrence explained.
“I know that Charity is certainly more in denial than Mack, whereas he’s slightly straighter in expressing how he feels.
“Mack wanted to commit, he’s just not very good at it,” the actor added in an interview with Inside Soap, hinting his character does struggle to get things right.
Will he regret making the decision to steal Johnny’s from Vanessa as he realises his relationship could be put in jeopardy?
