Emmerdale releases emotional trailer for Marlon Dingle’s stroke storyline

Emmerdale has released an emotional new look at Marlon Dingle’s upcoming major health battle after he suffers a stroke next week.

The new storyline will begin with Marlon collapsing shortly after he and Rhona Goskirk (Zo Henry) propose to each other, with the goal of educating viewers on the early warning signs of a stroke.

Marlon is rushed to the hospital after his daughter April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) discovers him desperately trying to remember the FAST acronym after realizing what’s going on.

Marlon looks horrified in the mirror as his face shows signs of a stroke, including a drooped mouth and eye, before collapsing onto the floor in the new trailer.

After discovering him, April begs him to speak to her, while an upset Rhona examines her engagement ring in the hospital.

“Will you please just get back to me? I’m at a loss, “Paddy Kirk cries out to Marlon at his bedside.

Rhona later demonstrates her fighting spirit by telling Marlon: “It makes no difference how long or difficult this is. We’re going to do it as a group.”

The storyline was developed in collaboration with the Stroke Association charity, and it will depict what a stroke feels like “in the moment” from Marlon’s perspective.

“It felt totally right to play such an incredibly important story as this, with Marlon highlighting the fact that a stroke can happen at any time and showing the catastrophic consequences it can have on the person affected and their entire family,” Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said.

“As the story unfolds, we follow the tragic and heartbreaking long-term consequences it has on Marlon and his friends and family, and how their love for one another shines through as they all pull together at this most difficult time,” she continued.
