Michelle Hardwick will make a dramatic return to the famous ITV soap Emmerdale with an explosive new plot, it has been confirmed.
The 45-year-old actress, who played Vanessa Woodfield on the show until May 2020, will be returning on our screens after giving birth to her son Teddy.
Vanessa will make a spectacular comeback to the soap, arriving in the village and pulling up beside ex-girlfriend Charity Dingle and Mackenzie declaring their love for each other.
‘In classic Emmerdale style, she walks right into that – what wonderful timing,’ the actress told The Mirror.
‘However, I can’t think of a more fitting setting for Vanessa to return to.’ ‘I thought it was just great.’ Seeing Charity and Mackenzie as soon as she returns to the town is a bit much, even though she knows they’ve moved on that Vanessa has a new girlfriend.
There will be sequences between Vanessa and Charity when they collide, which will be entertaining for the audience to see.’
Michelle and Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks had their 14-month-old son Teddy in October of last year.
After nearly two years away from the show, the actress said that it was strange to return.
Her first day back was nerve-wracking, she recalled, especially because she had to work under Covid restrictions, which required her to do her own hair and make-up.
Vanessa was diagnosed with colon cancer last year and opted to relocate to Scotland to live with her mum.
Charity, her fiancée, had deserted her and hooked up with Mackenzie, so she had to leave. Michelle is undecided whether or not the couple will reunite.
Michelle’s character was saved from being killed off once she became pregnant.
She stated that they were unable to complete the tale to our satisfaction.
The cancer tale, on the other hand, was well-represented.
Michelle has also expressed concern that her return to work may make her a target for trolls.
The actor has previously claimed to receiving abuse as a result of her status as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
She explained that now that her son is here, she doesn’t have time for it and that she tries to ignore the abuse, only speaking up when it becomes excessive.
