Emmerdale stalwart Charity Dingle heartbroken as family member dies off-screen?

Charity Dingle, who lives in Emmerdale, may face heartbreak if she learns that her estranged father has died off-screen.

Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) has taken a back seat in Emmerdale recently, but in scenes that aired last month, Charity was finally reunited with her former partner, Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick), after 18 months, leaving fans wondering if they will reunite. A recent tragedy in the Dales, on the other hand, appears to have brought Charity and her boyfriend Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) closer.

Charity was left feeling guilty when she discovered her son Ryan Stocks (James Moore) was grieving for his adopted mother in scenes that aired last week.

Charity initially accused Mack of starting a fight between her and Ryan.

Charity’s boyfriend, on the other hand, was later revealed to be trying to persuade Ryan to talk about his loss.

Despite their falling out, the couple quickly reconciles and rekindles their relationship.

Charity and her son have noticed how distant Mack has been since Ryan’s adopted mother’s funeral.

“Mate, are you sure you don’t want a brew?” Ryan asked as he tried to get Mack to talk.

“Yeah, of course, I am sure,” Mack replied. “Why do you keep asking?”

Ryan continued: “Because you’ve normally had about three by now.”

“Yeah, sorry,” Mack explained as Charity interrupted the moment. “I am going to go and get changed.”

As Mack left, Charity looked towards her son and asked: “What is up with him? He’s being weird. Have you asked him what it is?”

“I think funerals dredge stuff up,” Ryan explained as Charity asked: “With Mack?”

“I think it has made him think about his own mum,” Ryan simply replied.

“Oh, my God, why am I so thick?” Charity added. “Too blind to see that he’s hurting.”

Mack finally opened up about how Ryan’s mother’s death brought back memories of his own during Monday night’s episode.

This prompted Charity to discuss her own mother’s death and how her father lied to her about the cause of death.

“Yesterday at the funeral you were so quiet,” Charity later asked Mack.

He replied: “Was I? Sorry. I am not usually in the habit of shouting when people are in mourning.”

Charity pressed him for an answer and inquired if he was thinking about his mother.

“You can talk to me about stuff,” Charity explained. “You can tell me what’s on your mind, your mum.”

“You never really deal with it, do you?” he continued. “All that about time healing it, it never goes away.”

Charity proceeded to tell Mack about her mother’s suicide and her estranged father as Mack opened up about his mother’s death.

“It eats me up inside sometimes,” she told Mack. “Thinking about how my mum felt before she died.

“I was just a kid. She left a note for my dad and then threw herself off a cliff.”

“I was only a child.” She left a note for my father before jumping off a cliff.”

“My father couldn’t cope with the fact that she’d killed herself, so he pretended she died of cancer,” Charity explained. “I didn’t know about it until recently.”

Charity last saw her father, Obadiah Dingle (Paul Copley), in 2018, when he revealed he was suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

Charity refused to express sympathy for her father’s illness at the time, but will she make amends before it’s too late?

Charity’s father may die off-screen before Charity has the opportunity to put an end to their feud.

Given how his whereabouts have been brought up again, Charity and her father appear to be in line to take center stage in the soap, but could it be in heartbreaking circumstances?
