Emmerdale is gearing up for a dramatic Christmas for Meena Jutla, who has her sights set on the serial killer’s own sister Manpreet.
Manpreet’s suspicions regarding Meena’s true nature would be confirmed in upcoming scenes later this month, especially once she hears of Meena’s late friend Nadine’s suspicious death, with the latter’s sister claiming that Meena killed her.
Manpreet then begins to notice some of her sister’s nefarious behavior and finds her attempting to frame Dawn Taylor, leading Meena to believe that Manpreet is on to her.
Paige Sandhu, who plays Nadine in Meena, has hinted that her character may reveal a different side of herself during the storyline, saying that the thought of being questioned about her death is “certainly not a good feeling” and “stressful.”
“She’s always tried to keep Nadine secret, especially from Manpreet because Manpreet is the guy who knows her the best,” she explained to Digital Spy and other media. “It’s stressful, and there’s a lot of lying, twisting, and deception to get the tale to seem the way she wants it to.”
Despite her lack of guilt for her prior victims, it appears that Meena may deviate from expectations and be more hesitant to murder her own sister.
“I always feel like Meena would murder anyone, would do anything bad to anyone, but the only person she would think twice about doing it to would be Manpreet,” Paige added.
“So when Manpreet starts to do these things, Meena can’t just go and off her sister because she does have some sort of feeling for her. So she has to choose a different tactic and it’s stressful for her…”
Despite this apparent conflict of feelings, it appears that Meena is still a psychopath who has no remorse for her former victims.
“No, she doesn’t have remorse,” the star continued. “She’s not able to feel it. She doesn’t know what remorse means.
“She has pride for what she’s done and it makes her feel invincible. That’s why she keeps these mementoes from each victim. They’re like her trophies.
“If you win something, you want to keep that thing, look at it and remember winning, all of those good feelings come back to you, that’s what she gets when she looks at these mementoes. It’s only a pleasurable and good feeling for her, not remorse.”
