Emmerdale theory: Gabby Thomas loses custody of Thomas Tate in heartbreaking twist

In this week’s episodes of the ITV soap, Gabby Thomas discovered that her son’s father, Thomas Tate, was still alive, but a new theory from Express.co.uk suggests that Jamie Tate’s return could cause more trouble than good.

At the start of this week’s Emmerdale episodes, Gabby (Rosie Bentham) was preparing to give Thomas a wonderful christening, and even though Jamie (Alexander Lincoln) was missing, presumed dead, his mother Kim Tate (Claire King) was still involved. What she didn’t expect was to hear Millie Tate (Willow Bell) discussing her father as if he were still alive, implying that he had faked his death. If this were true, the single mother would be in serious trouble, as she knew she stood a good chance of losing her child. She was willing to let her former lover run for the hills and never return to the ITV soap by the end of Friday’s episode, but one scene from the dramatic instalments has hinted she will lose Thomas for good.

Gabby confided in Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) about her suspicions at the end of Thursday night’s episode of the weeknight serial drama.

Lights began flashing after Millie was overheard on the baby monitor talking to Thomas about their father. Jamie was still on the loose, and he could sue for custody of his son at any time.

He’s already gotten his hands on his daughter, convincing his mother Kim that she was living with Andrea Tate’s (Anna Nightingale) mother Hazel (Kate Anthony) rather than with him.

Millie has been in the custody of her father, not her grandmother, since she left the village last year.

Gabby was convinced something was up when she noticed Hazel watching her and Millie like a hawk at the christening after hearing a reference to Jamie.

“Hazel is probably being overprotective, having to take on this big responsibility [of being two parents],” Dawn, who believed Jamie was dead, told her.

“She claims to converse with him. Before Gabby hinted at an impending custody battle for Thomas, she added, “A lot of people talk to relatives they’ve lost.”

“Right, and what’s his message for Thomas?” she inquired, but neither she nor the viewers at home heard her comment as the scenes were cut.

“Perhaps you misheard it on the monitor.” Millie has lost both of her parents, and kids make things up all the time,” Dawn responded.

“All right, then, forget it.” “I know what I heard, and I overheard her tell Thomas that Jamie had a message for him, and he wanted to see him, and it was some sort of secret,” Gabby revealed.

Millie’s message to her younger brother could have been that Jamie wanted them to be a proper family.

He would not be interested in reigniting a relationship with Gabby because he has no feelings for her and only wants to get his hands on his son.

Jamie could make it extremely difficult for his son’s mother to obtain sole custody of their child because the Tates are wealthy.

Jamie could tell Gabby she should kiss goodbye to Thomas when he returns to the village in the coming weeks, as he will be taking him far away from England once he has won custody of him.

Gabby mentioned in Friday’s episode that going on a search for Jamie would put her in a precarious position because she knows the courts would grant Jamie custody.

Gabby would be devastated if she lost Thomas, especially given how deeply she has fallen in love with him.

The mother of one has warmed up to having a child and balancing her social life alongside it, despite her initial aversion to motherhood.

Thomas would have a strong bond with Ashley Thomas because he was christened on the day of her late father’s death (John Middleton).

Gabby’s last link to the former vicar of the village would likely be severed if he was kidnapped by Jamie.

However, in recent years, viewers have seen a very manipulative side to the character, as it appears she will go to any length to get what she wants.

As a result, if Jamie believes he can walk over Gabby and get away with it, he may be in for a fight.

Rosie, who plays Gabby, discussed the most recent plot twist in the ongoing saga with Jamie and hinted at what the future holds.

Rosie elaborated: “I believe it will be an enthralling storyline!

“Jamie’s disappearance seemed to shock the viewers because it was so unexpected, but the case was not completely solved because no body was found.

“I enjoyed the Jamie and Gabby dynamic because I thought the characters complimented each other well, both being feisty and cunning.”

“Gabby is willing to go to any length to find out the truth about Jamie,” the soap star continued.

“If she has to, she’ll do it on her own.” Her curiosity leads her to visit places she’s never visited before and to act on paranoia and fear.

“She drags Dawn along with her, dragging her deeper into the drama as they go, and they discover something shocking during their adventures.”

“Her paranoia about Jamie grows stronger and stronger, and it eats Gabby up,” the actress explained in an interview with Digital Spy.

So, as the search for Jamie forces her to reconsider her role as a mother, is there a chance she’ll be too broken to fight for custody?
