Emmerdale to revisit Jamie Tate’s exit storyline this year

Later this year, Emmerdale will revisit Jamie Tate’s departure narrative.

Jamie, played by Alexander Lincoln, left the village late last year after driving his car into a lake by accident.

For several weeks, his fate remained unknown, and he was assumed dead before it was discovered he was still alive. He found himself far away from his conniving mother Kim Tate (Claire King) and the Dales, reunited with his daughter Millie.

Kim still believes her kid is dead, and last month, producer Laura Shaw told Digital Spy and other outlets that she will find out the truth.

“Up at Home Farm, we know that Jamie Tate is actually still alive, so obviously that info is still to come out. And what will Kim do once she knows?” she said.

“We know what a tough cookie Kim is, but we also know that Jamie is her Achilles’ heel, so we can expect huge fireworks if she ever finds out how much he has betrayed her.”

There’s no word on whether or not the actor will reprise his role as Jamie in the future.

The arrival of Pierce Harris’ son Marcus Dean, played by Darcy Grey, and three marriages are among the other stories scheduled for this year.

“I don’t believe that’s giving anything away because there are so many female characters in the show,” producer Jane Hudson said, “but there will be a new arrival before the year is up.”

And it appears that Meena Jutla will face her comeuppance in the not-too-distant future.

This October marks the 50th anniversary of the show.
