MEENA JUTLA, EMMERDALE’S serial killer, is set to return to the village later this year, as she appears to have unfinished business following her exit on Thursday night’s episode of the ITV soap.
In the most recent episode of Emmerdale, Meena’s (played by Paige Sandhu) reign of terror appeared to be coming to an end as her heinous crimes were finally exposed. Liam Cavanagh (Johnny McPherson) played a key role in bringing the villain to her knees, as he discovered how she killed his daughter, Leanna Cavanagh (Mimi Slinger), and held Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) prisoner. She did, however, flee the Dales before the cops could apprehend her. But her tale on the ITV serial will not end here, as it has been revealed that she will return.
Executive producer Jane Hudson discussed the details of Meena’s return to the village with Express.co.uk and other publications, and it appears that it will be spectacular for viewers.
“Judgement Day for Meena is approaching,” the soap’s executive producer warned. You’ll have to wait and see whether she gets away with murder or not.
“There are a few more twists and turns to come, some of which you won’t see coming, but I think we can all agree that Meena is capable of pretty much anything.”
“Judgement Day for Meena will not go as planned, and it will have a long-term impact on many of our villagers.”
“I believe Meena will receive what’s coming to her in the next few months,” the executive producer teased, hinting at the villain’s ultimate chapter.
Meena would undoubtedly seek vengeance on Liam for foiling her attempts to murder Manpreet and Vinny, as he had been plotting her sister’s death for weeks.
Since kidnapping Manpreet, the serial killer has declared she would be enraged if someone had ruined her fun.
The doctor, lo and behold, did when he located the killer alone in an abandoned barn outside of the village and smacked her on the head.
He first showed up to talk to her about the bogus pregnancy she had lied about and the subsequent Christmas Day miscarriage.
The villain believed she had successfully manipulated him, and when she believed he had returned to the Dales, she entered the barn to murder her sister.
When Liam discovered her, he knocked her out and freed her hostages before furiously attempting to follow her down in the woods after her lifeless body had vanished from the barn.
He didn’t have much hope, and by dusk, he appeared to be Meena’s next victim, as she approached him from the shadows, holding a rock in her hand.
She fled after being apprehended by the police and ended herself in a vehicle with a stranger named Thomas, who was driving towards Glasgow.
Assuming Manpreet’s name, she appeared to be planning to live her life on the run and away from the Dales.
Everyone in the town will be looking behind their backs, but they know she could return at any time because no body has been found.
Liam’s sadness over the loss of his daughter will challenge him once more.
She may hide in the shadows and play mind games with the doctor before killing him as a form of retaliation.
However, because she is caught in the act this time, this could be the death that leads to her arrest and imprisonment.
Jane teased her retribution and how it would affect other villagers in the same way that Liam’s death would.
It would have an impact not just on his wife, Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), but also on Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson).
Paige, who plays Meena, has already expressed her desire to leave her role behind when she leaves the show.
Paige said: “I will miss everything because I love her. I think she’s hilarious, she’s got so much charisma, she’s so strange, she is just odd and everything about her.
“She’s so weird and it’s so much fun to play such a weird character.
“Going to those dark places is really fulfilling but then there’s that slightly comedic edge which is always fun [to play].
“I love her flamboyancy. I think everything about her I’ll miss,” she added in an interview with Inside Soap Magazine.
Jane teased a Meena reappearance, but she didn’t say when it will air, and there are a lot of options.
Not only is there the possibility of a stunt week airing in the Spring or Summer, but the show is also celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Christmas is another possibility, with the New Year also on the horizon for the villain’s final chapter.
Viewers will have to keep an eye out for clues of Meena’s devious tricks, as well as whether or not Liam’s time is up.
