Harriet Finch, a resident of Emmerdale, may be leaving the hamlet soon if Meena Jutla’s deadly scheme is thwarted by the vicar turned police officer.
Harriet Finch (Kathryn Dow Blyton) has been kept out of the spotlight in recent episodes of Emmerdale, but she made her debut as a police officer in Wednesday night’s ITV episode.
Harriet didn’t waste any time and got right to work on her first assignment, which was to investigate the disappearance of GP Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker).
Manpreet’s estranged husband Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) expressed his concern to his son Jai (Chris Bisson) regarding the GP’s whereabouts at the end of Tuesday night’s episode.
When neither Rishi nor Manpreet’s daughter could contact her, Rishi became very anxious.
Meena, on the other hand, had attempted to defuse the tension by informing Rishi that Manpreet had gone to Ibiza to see her daughter, Aiesha (played by Shila Iqbal).
Rishi didn’t believe the wicked nurse’s tale, so he called the cops to report the doctor missing.
The locals look to be closing in on Meena, and it’s only a matter of time before she’s discovered.
Rishi anxiously banged on Manpreet’s door on Wednesday’s show, looking for his ex-wife.
“Is anyone home?” he asked as he banged on the door.
Meena had Manpreet hostage and had bound her to the bed upstairs, which he had no idea about.
PC Mike Swirling (Andy Moore) and Harriet arrived at the same time as Meena at the residence.
“What’s going on?” the nurse asked as they explained her sister had been reported missing.
“There’s nothing to be concerned about,” Mike assured her, “but there appears to be some confusion concerning your sister’s whereabouts.”
“We’ve received information that she is meant to be in Ibiza with her kid, but she hasn’t heard from her.”
Meena, thinking quickly, informed the officers that Manpreet had changed her plans and gone to a spa instead.
“I think she just wanted a few days to herself,” Meena said before Harriet replied: “I am sure she does after everything she has been through.”
Despite Meena’s assurances to the police officers about her sister’s whereabouts, Rishi was not about to give up without a fight.
He later attempted to apprehend Meena in a cafe, where she was interrogated further by police personnel.
“How did you talk to her if she didn’t take her phone?” Rishi pushed further. “I think you need to talk to the police.”
He added: “I thought you said she didn’t have her phone.”
“She was on one of those cheap handsets you can buy at duty-free,” Meena angrily replied.
“Why don’t you ring her now?” Rishi raged as Meena shouted: “No one is worried apart from you.”
Rishi recommended they go to Wendy Posner’s (Susan Cookson) house to seek for evidence after Meena faked a phone call to Manpreet.
Harriet then revealed that Wendy would be returning the next day, forcing Meena to modify her plans.
“I’m sure Wendy wouldn’t complain if we needed to peek around her room,” Harriet added. “I believe she will return tomorrow.”
Meena placed Manpreet in a corpse bag and drove her to her car at the end of the episode.
Will the nurse be forced to silence Harriet if she continues to investigate Manpreet’s room?
