Gray Atkins registered newborn Jordan without his mother present, which perplexed EASTENDERS viewers.
Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) is having a bad time in Albert Square, and it doesn’t look like things are going to get any better. On the BBC soap, the EastEnders local has been attempting to flee her abusive husband Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith), but he remains firmly in control.
EastEnders viewers had been hoping for her to break free, and they were left stunned after Thursday’s episode.
Chelsea’s plan to flee her serial killer husband ran into another emotional roadblock when she discovered he had registered baby Jordan without her knowledge.
After alienating her from her friends and family, this is yet another attempt to keep her under his control.
However, this episode sparked debate among fans, who were perplexed as to how Gray would be able to register the baby’s birth on his own.
Dion wrote: “I didn’t know dads could register the birth on their own #Eastenders.”
Another confused fan, Laura, added: “How is Grey able to register Jordan’s birth and put Chelsea on it without her being present?! #EastEnders.”
Fans were perplexed, as dramatic and heartbreaking as it was for Chelsea to learn that Gray had done such a selfish and malicious thing.
“I just watched #EastEnders… you can’t register a birth without them being present.. what a stupid storyline!!,” Millerite tweeted.
Some fans couldn’t get enough of the show despite the plot hole.
“Tonight, @ZaraahAbrahams was incredible. Gray would register Jordan’s birth without Chelsea, I had a feeling.
“Chelsea may never escape Gray now. She should of told Denise when she had the chance. That could of been her last chance. #Eastenders,” Ryan said.
Fuming at the storyline development, Dee said: “I wouldn’t blame Chelsea if she just murdered him. I’d do it myself at this rate #EastEnders.”
Chelsea planned to register Jordan without his father present in the hopes of severing all ties with Gray, but Gray was one step ahead.
Some fans were able to set aside their rage long enough to express gratitude for the onscreen acting that had elicited these feelings.
Applauding the villain’s portrayal, Jager said: “You have to respect how good at acting Toby-Alexander Smith who plays Gray is, He often makes me forget the character is a murderous abuser and I sometimes even like Gray. So he really plays the narcissistic role very well because he even reels me in, haha. #EastEnders.”
With friends Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol) and Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) plotting a way to get her out of Walford, things should start to look up for the mother-of-one.
Viewers are curious if she will survive her husband’s constant pressure and watchful eye in one piece or if she will crack.
Chelsea will be prescribed antidepressants by her doctor in future episodes because she is unable to breastfeed her baby, which will only make matters worse.
Fans of the show are already nervous because several heavy storylines are running at the same time.
