Two years after splitting from Scott Sinclair, Helen Flanagan is prepared to intensify her search for love while trying her luck on a TV show. Celebrities Engage in Dating
Helen Flanagan has shared her reasons for waiting two years to start dating again following her breakup with Scott Sinclair.
The 34-year-old former Coronation Street star was set for marriage after spending 13 years with football player Scott. Matilda, 7, Delilah, 5, and Charlie, 3, are the three children that the ex-couple had together. However, they parted ways soon after the birth of their youngest child.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Helen said she took up the dating show’s offer as it will be “really good for me”. She explained she is now in a much better place following the break-up and has took the time to work on herself.
Opening up the time spent between relationships, Helen added: “I didn’t feel ready at all [to do the show last year]. I absolutely wasn’t in the right place. But now we’ve been apart for about two years. I thought this would be really good for me and I’d really enjoy it.”
While confessing she wasn’t quite ready to throw herself fully into the dating world, Helen did reveal she had dabbled at online dating. However, she admits using a dating app was “just awful”. She explained she is much more into meeting a potential suitor organically. “I go for personality, a connection, energy. And for what I feel I need at that time,” she said.
Last week Helen candidly revealed she still cares about her ex Scott, but admitted the pair simply don’t “like” each other anymore. Speaking on Charlotte Dawson’s Naughty Corner podcast, Helen said: “I still love him very much, I care about him deeply, but we don’t like each other. We don’t like each other at all, we don’t get on. I do know that Scott – he’d never admit it – cares about me too and he does love me.”
While Helen aims to find love on TV, Scott has moved on with model Louise Tarver. Earlier this year, Helen told the Mirror she suffered a breakdown after splitting from Scott. She admitted she spiralled downwards into a “very scary” psychotic episode, saying her nightmare began after what looked like a dream New Year’s break in Bali with their children.
She said: “My kids weren’t with me on Christmas Day because I like to be really fair with my ex, and it sounds so silly because it was only one day, but it hit me really hard. The plan was for me to take them to Bali for New Year instead, and although I enjoyed it, I didn’t feel myself. I was struggling. I felt terrible when I got back, I was crying all the time, I felt so low.”
