‘I love you son’ EastEnders’ Lorraine Stanley pays tribute to co-star ahead of exit

Lorraine Stanley, who plays her on-screen son in the long-running BBC soap EASTENDERS, took to social media to express her support for him.

Lorraine plays Karen Taylor, a mother of six who keeps Albert Square occupied with her family drama in true Eastenders fashion. Her nest, however, will be a little emptier as her on-screen son, Keegan Baker (played by Zack Morris), is leaving the Square to pursue other projects.

The actor’s departure was announced last week, following the departure of his on-screen wife Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) last year.

Zack, 23, is said to have already finished filming his final scenes, and his co-stars are already missing him.

Lorraine posted a proud message on social media, demonstrating that their chemistry and strong relationship aren’t limited to the television screen.

The star shared a series of photos with her 153 000 Instagram followers, showing the couple beaming from ear to ear and highlighting their family-like bond.

She said: “Well it’s been an absolute honour to play your Mum @_zack_morris you are a little gem!!

“Your passion and commitment to the craft is just so impressive! I’ve laughed so much working with you & the whole Taylor/Baker famalam, memories I will cherish forever!

“You are sooooo Talented, you’re generous, kind, professional, real, the list goes on…Go shine like the star you are [star emoji] I love you Son!! (Mummy 2) xxxxx.”

The actress wore her long blonde hair down for the celebration, a departure from her usual hair scraped back into a bun Walford look, as Zack smiled in the photos hugging her.

Zack reciprocated the love by leaving a comment on the post.

“This brought a tear to my eye and warmed my heart at the same time,” he said.

“Love you too Lou, so much! I really couldn’t of asked for a better on screen mum. You’ve been nothing but a blessing X.”

Veteran fans also left comments expressing their sadness for the young actor’s departure.

Ayse Leyla Morris declared: “@_zack_morris you will be missed so much, all the best and hope to see you return sometime.”

The show recently released a statement in which the actor expressed his gratitude for his time on the show while also stating that he needed a break.

“I have made the difficult decision to leave Walford and give Keegan Butcher-Baker some well-deserved rest after five beautiful years on this incredible show,” Zack said.

“To be honest, this show has changed my life for the better. It will always have a special place in my heart for me.

“Every accolade that comes their way is deserved by the cast and crew of this show. Making four episodes a week takes a lot of effort, love, and dedication, and it’s not something to be taken lightly.

“Not only as an actor, but also as a man, this show has given me so much.” These priceless lessons from EastEnders will stay with me for the rest of my life.”

Tiffany is set to return later this year for a one-off special, despite only having left a few months ago, which begs the question: is she returning in the hopes of persuading her ex to join her?

Tiffany left Walford in December 2021, when her marriage to Keegan began to fall apart.

Keegan was confident that Tiffany would stay with him after a deceptive final night together, but she went ahead and left to start a new life elsewhere.

Fans expect her to be pregnant when she returns, which will undoubtedly cause drama.

Could it be enough to persuade Keegan to leave Albert Square and start a new life together?
