EASTENDERS fans see Phil Mitchell and his estranged wife, Sharon, at the battle over Queen Vic-but could someone else end up taking it over?
EastEnders fan-favourite couple, Mick Carter (played by Danny Dyer) and Linda Carter have been under immense stress in recent months after the alcoholism of the latter has spiralled out of control.
However, as she eventually got on track earlier this year, Mick made a huge decision about their future and realized they needed to leave behind Queen Vic.
Phil Mitchell continues to go ahead with the buy after he’s called it off with Sharon-But could it be someone else who will end up behind the bar if the deal falls through for Walford’s hard-man resident?
In recent months, Mick and Linda have been struggling with their relationship after their young son Ollie (Harry Farr) was diagnosed with autism.
With both the pair unsure how to deal with the news, Linda quickly took a more destructive path as she started to turn more and more to the bottle.
It looked like the pair’s marriage was over when Linda failed to stay away from the alcohol, so she told Mick that she wanted a divorce.
However, when the lives of the pair were put at risk during the boat tragedy earlier this year, they were forced to reconsider everything.
Despite many temptations, Linda stayed mostly away from alcohol, except for a minor slip-up, impressing her husband.
She also attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and slowly managed to get back on the straight and the narrow.
As the couple grew stronger despite their previous setbacks, Mick told his wife that he knew they would have to say good-bye to their beloved pub to keep moving on.
The sale of the Vic sparked a lot of interest around Walford, and with a new owner who had not yet signed a dotted line, could someone closer to home take over the pub?
BBC fans see Phil desperately trying to get Sharon’s pub back after he decided to fight for their relationship.
Phil carried out one of his riskiest jobs ever with his son Ben (Max Bowden) where they successfully got the money they had to sale.
In the meanwhile, Sharon began to be distracted with the idea of losing her newborn son, Kayden, with only days to go until his grandmother, Karen (Lorraine Stanley), was set to move away.
Sharon went to Kayden for the last visit before he departed, and it was then that she realized she couldn’t face the prospect of saying goodbye to him.
When she revealed this to Phil, he asked her to choose between himself and the newborn, and she was furious when she selected Kayden.
Phil declared she was “dead” to him now, and it looks like any hope of salvaging their relationship is gone.
With Phil still keen to buy, Linda would be reluctant to sign over to the pub over she discovers how Sharon has also been treated in the coming episodes.
Could this lead the pair to call off the sale but still decide to leave the pub, instead of giving the reins to their family members?
Many fans were wondering what would happen to Tina Carter after it looked like she was struggling with the prospect of moving on.
Also uncertain with Shirley ‘s future, will the sisters end up stepping in and running the pub themselves, allowing Mick and Linda to move on?
One fan said posted on twitter, “Poor Tina feels so lonely. Hopefully, this is the beginning of # EastEnders giving her a real storyline.
Another posted: “Tina has no place to stay even though she has her own # EastEnders business,” with a third adding: “Poor Tina is fed up # EastEnders.”
Could Mick help Tina get back on her feet by giving her and Shirley in the responsibility of the pub after she decided to call off the sale?
If Sharon is no longer able to return to Queen Vic’s childhood home, will this cause more heartbreak for the grieving mother?
