The 2020 season of Home and Away will draw to a close in Australia on Monday 30th November, with a three-part episode from 7 pm.
Although Seven has not officially announced the date, the week’s schedules show a 3-part episode on Monday with no episodes planned for the rest of the week, leaving us pretty sure it’s the 2020 season finale date.
With a total of 205 episodes running, which will make the 2020 season slightly shorter than previous years.
An average season sees 230 Home and Away series. And if we were to weigh in the Olympics, which were set to take place in late July, and usually see the show go off-screen for two weeks, we would normally have expected a total of 220 episodes.
The shorter season is explained by the Coronavirus effect, which prompted the show to stop production for a number of weeks and caused it to vanish back in March for three weeks from Australian screens.
We are not yet sure of the return of the show in 2021, and the date is unlikely to be confirmed by early next year. The first episode back last year was Monday, January 27th, following an 8 1/2 week pause, meaning that we might be in for a long wait.
What’s coming up in the Home and Away Season Finale?
As with last year the specifics surrounding the season finale this year were kept almost entirely under wraps.
For a number of months, though, we’ve been promising one big incident, and it seems likely to figure prominently in the season finale. In last year’s final, Ari Parata (Rob Kipa-Williams) made his first appearance as an innocent bystander trapped in the Northern Districts Hospital siege, with the rest of the family joining him earlier this year.
Now, Summer Bay’s newest family look is scheduled to play a significant role in the finale of this year.
Tane (Ethan Browne) has been caught up in a drug trade gone bad over the past few weeks, which has given the Paratas and those around them nothing but misery. Recently, Ari and Tane joined to make a final deal for Leon and his gang, which was supposed to pay off their debt and draw a line under their issues.
Back in August, Home and Away filmed a scene in a car park in a Sydney suburb, in which Heath Braxton (Dan Ewing) made a surprise appearance. The scenes showed a fight between two groups of guys, with Heath seemingly on the same side as Ari, Tane, and Dean.
You can watch a video of the fight being filmed below.
We initially speculated that Heath could be back in the Bay to help break Colby Thorne out of prison. While we haven’t completely discounted that theory, it now seems far more likely that Heath is drafted in to help the Paratas out of trouble.
Perhaps she turns to Dean for support, who uses his old River Boy connections to bring Heath in touch with the Parata brothers, with Ziggy caught up in the drama? The River Boys are also involved, having just disposed of the stolen goods from Tane’s truck, with Ziggy unaware that $25,000 of cocaine are lined up outside the van.
How long Heath will be back in the bay is not clear yet, but we’re not expecting him to hang around for long.
As far as we know, Dan Ewing wasn’t spotted filming at Palm Beach, Summer Bay’s real-life home in northern Sydney.
While he could feature heavily in indoor scenes that are filmed far away from the prying eyes of fans and paparazzi, if he had been around for more than a couple of weeks, it seems unlikely that he would not have been spotted filming outside.
Jasmine and Tori, who look poised to clash once again over baby Grace, will both appear prominently in the last 2 weeks. With the one-year anniversary of the death of Robbo nearing, Jasmine’s mind still weighs heavily on his memory.
She’s struggled to deal with Christian taking more time with Grace, and the sight of Tori and Christian playing with happier families has made her yearn for her own kids.
Earlier this year, Jasmine suffered a breakdown, resulting in Tori carrying out a restraining order against her. Though their relationship has since been patched up and Jasmine has apparently recovered, the new spoilers indicate that Tori and Christian will fight over Jasmine in the final fortnight of the season, with Jasmine hoping for help from a friend in Taylor. Before the year is out, will there be another dramatic twist in this story?
