McLeod’s Daughters star Bridie Carter has been happily married to Michael Wilson, her partner, for more than 16 years.
And on Tuesday night, as she posted a nostalgic photo on her Instagram, the 49-year-old shared a look into the earlier stages of their relationship.
In the seventh season of Dancing With The Stars back in 2007, the snap, taken when the Home and Away actress snared victory, shows Bridie cozying up to her long-time beau.
So I thought it was #throwbacktuesday, but it’s apparently #throwbacktuesday,
throwback Thursday, but anyway I’m going to #throwback because I found this special photo of Michael and I in my confusion on the night I won Dancing With The Stars, she captioned the message.
Really pleased, but very tired obviously! ”
Bridie acknowledged, reflecting on her victory, that it was a tough competition, but such an enjoyable experience.
“The only trophy I’ve received in my life,” continued Bridie.

Incredibly scary work, but incredibly satisfying, I didn’t want to interrupt it! Never been fit like that – dancers are great athletes. Nice work, great experience, great memory for throwbacks! ”
“I need to dance more/again – in the lounge room!!!!” she said. ”
The relationship between Bridie and Michael goes back to the 2000s when they hit it off after McLeod’s Daughters had wrapped up filming for the first season.
“I planned this break in Byron and, like you do, rented this little milk bale up in the hills from the mother of a makeup artist mom’s friend. I ended up on my own doing this huge road trip, driving my little car from South Australia to Melbourne to see relatives, then to see friends in Sydney, and finally to Byron,” Bridie explained to New Idea earlier.
“I bumped smack-bang into Michael, whom I had previously met through mutual friends in Sydney, the first few days after I arrived in Byron, and the remainder is kind of history.”
For Michael, then working as a fashion designer and now a fourth-generation farmer, the world of television drama was definitely new territory at the time.
“I had nothing to do with the entertainment business before and had never been one to be excited by someone being in it he said. “I’m pretty shy, too so I don’t let the bag out too much.”
“Added Bridie: “As a guy, Michael was interested in me not me because of what I did. We’re both pretty down-to-earth, straightforward and upfront, like attracts like. That’s how we really have been.’
In 2004, in the hinterlands of Byron Bay, Bridie finally married Michael in a romantic wedding ceremony.
The pair are currently living on a Byron Bay farm, and are proud parents of sons Otis, 15, and Tobias, 10, and stepson James, 21, from Michael’s previous relationship.
