Home and Away Former star Johnny Ruffo sparks outpouring of love

For the first time since it was announced that his brain cancer had returned, Johnny Ruffo’s girlfriend Tahnee Sims switched to Instagram to pay tribute to her boyfriend.

Last Tuesday, the 32-year-old former Home and Away actor and The X Factor contestant shared the shocking news, vowing to “dig deep” to beat “this illness again.”

On Instagram, Ruffo made the announcement, posting a photo of himself with his girlfriend.

When he required brain surgery to remove a tumor, Sims, 27, was by his side during his first bout with cancer in 2017.

Sims shared a black-and-white set of pictures of herself with Ruffo on Monday, simply writing: “What a superstar.”

Since 2015, the pair have been together, riding the wave of diagnosis, sickness, recovery from Ruffo – and now his second diagnosis.

An outpouring of love and support was sparked by Sims’ recent message.

“Love you guys wrote Lynne McGranger, the Home and Away actor.

“One follower wrote, “Thinking about you guys and sending lots of love and optimistic healing vibes.

Superstar with a queen beside him,” another wrote.

Earlier this year while coping with his illness, Ruffo talked to The Morning Show about the importance of getting a good support network around him.

“It’s about being around a support group and not being afraid to ask for help,” he said.

“It doesn’t just apply to my cancer experience.

Everyone is going through something that’s hard, so they might feel that it’s too hard to deal with on their own.

“And there’s always someone to help you when you go through these things.”

Ruffo went to Instagram last year to wish Sims a happy birthday, describing her as the world’s most incredibly kind, loving, caring, and beautiful individual.”

As he wrote, “You make me want to be a better person, or at least try.”

It’s only a little better every day with you than the previous one and I am so grateful to be able to call you mine.

“All the love in the world, I love you every day more and more.”
