Isla Fisher has acknowledged that she has contemplated returning to the long-running sitcom Home and Away, more than 20 years after she left it.
The 45-year-old actress admitted to making a cameo appearance on the show that launched her career in an interview with Yahoo! News on Friday.
‘Of course I’ve considered it!’ she admitted to the publication.
‘I’ve thought, “Wouldn’t it be hilarious?” But then the reality of it is, obviously, you have to give lots of notice and then it gets written in and then you have to commit.
‘But, obviously, it would be wonderful at some point to just walk by with a surfboard or anything.’
Isla played Shannon Reed on Home and Away from 1994 to 1997, before heading to Los Angeles and trying her luck in Hollywood.
She had a breakout part in Wedding Crashers in 2005, opposite Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, and has continued to work steadily in films since then.
In 2010, she married fellow actor Sacha Baron Cohen, and the couple moved to Australia with their three children last year from their home in Los Angeles.
Despite promising a return to Home and Away, Isla hasn’t always viewed her time on the show with fondness.
She previously told Stylist magazine, ‘I wouldn’t say I had the best experience on Home And Away.’
‘I learned a lot, but I was fatigued because the hours that they work you are very, very long, and you’re away from your family, and you’re expected to work at the weekend doing photoshoots for magazines after shooting really long days.’
‘My most vivid recollection is of being fatigued and sleeping whenever I could.’ ‘Rehearse your lines, shoot all day, and then go to bed.’
