Fans of Coronation Street were sidetracked when rising football star Lily Platt made an uncommon appearance at Weatherfield with her father, David Platt.
Watchers of Coronation Street were shocked to see Lily Platt make an unusual cameo in the most recent episode, begging to play football in the garden with her uncle Nick Tilsley.
The 10-year-old daughter of David (Jack P Shepherd) and Kylie Platt (Paula Lane), Lily is played by Brooke Malonie. She is also Max Turner’s half-sibling (Paddy Beaver).
The paternity of Lily was once uncertain, with Kylie unsure if her husband David or his brother Nick was the father. However, a DNA test soon confirmed that David was indeed her biological dad.
Tragically, Lily lost her mother Kylie before she turned three, after Kylie was fatally stabbed by Clayton Hibbs during a confrontation at Prima Doner. Lily now resides at 8 Coronation Street with her dad, brother Max, and grandmother Gail.
David has since married Shona Platt, who has stepped into a motherly role for Lily
In the episode aired on Monday (August 19), fans were astonished to see the young football enthusiast in the kitchen with her father and Shona, trying to persuade Nick to play football with her.
On X, previously known as Twitter, one viewer commented: “When did Lily get so tall? She’ll be towering over David next year.”
Another exclaimed: “Good god! Lily Platt has returned as a giant!”. A third person commented: “Didn’t recognise Lily for a minute then. WOW she’s shot up.”
Meanwhile, another social media user expressed their surprise: “Wow, Lily Platt appears to have grown up and got a growth spurt very quickly since she was last seen. she’s at that age i guess.”
Lily was initially portrayed by twins Ava and Lilly Bushell from her birth in August 2013 until August 2014. The role was then taken on by Betsie and Emmie Taylor from September 2014 to May 2016. Brooke has been playing the character from the following month to the present day.
