ITV Emmerdale fans question missing witnesses and charges in Meena Jutla court scenes

During the most recent scenes on Emmerdale, Meena Jutla finally had her plea hearing, but it wasn’t as straightforward as it could have been. After her secret terrorization of the village came to light and she was finally caught for her horrific crimes, the serial killer nurse was charged by the police with a string of offenses last month.

Since then, viewers of the ITV soap have watched as Meena has tried to pull strings behind bars, including having vicar Charles Anderson visit her to seek forgiveness before telling him she’d only confess to more of her wrongdoing if she got a visit from her sister, Manpreet, whom she also held against her will and nearly killed.

Meena told Manpreet she’d do the right thing when tempers flared in the visiting room, before attempting to frame her for Andrea Tate’s death. Her claims were quickly debunked, and all focus shifted to her plea hearing, which aired during Thursday’s hour-long episode of the ITV soap.

With many of her surviving victims present, including Manpreet and Leyla Cavanagh, Meena was informed that she was facing 18 indictments and that she needed to enter her pleas to each one.

But, after pleading guilty to some of her lesser offenses – in the grand scheme of things – she ended up pleading not guilty to the murders of Ben Tucker, Leanna Cavanagh, and Andrea Tate, in yet another twist in the storyline.

The emotion of it all got to Leyla, who stood up from the stands and called Meena a liar and a murderer, but as they all ushered her out, Liam Cavanagh was left fearing he’d never get justice for his daughter’s death, Leanna.

Manpreet was taken aback as well, and she eventually gave in to the pressure, believing that Meena’s fate and their justice depended on her.

@Savvi6 also had a question: “Why hasn’t Vinny been called to testify? #Emmerdale.”

“‘I just feel like it’s now up to me to secure the conviction.’ I’m the most important witness! I’m the only one who can tell them exactly what she did.’ Vinny, how about you? Isn’t he just as knowledgeable as Manpreet? #Emmerdale If only Charles wasn’t bound by the priest confession, “said @griannedoherty2.

@ifeelflames added the following: “I understand that Manpreet is the only one to whom Meena has confessed, but aren’t Vinnie and Liam also testifying about the kidnapping? There doesn’t appear to be any mention of #emmerdale.”

Some observers, however, noted that this is only a plea hearing and not a trial… yet.

Viewers interrogated the witnesses as well as wondering where some of Meena’s other charges had gone.

@griannedoherty2 made the following comment: “Wait, there’s no mention of Vinny, Victoria, or Harriet’s attempted murders? Or did they simply remove that section? To be fair, there were a lot of counts to get through. In fact, #Emmerdale is for people over the age of 18.”

“What about holding Vinny hostage or attempting to assassinate Vicky? Or should we just pretend they didn’t happen #emmerdale? “@sukavi2011 sent out a tweet.
