EastEnders has gone out of the show for the first time 35-year run, as Linda and Mick Carter (Kellie Bright and Danny Dyer) signed the Queen Vic to Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).
Inevitably, viewers will have to wait quite some time to see what happens next, given that this was the last installation that was shot until production halted in the Amid pandemic coronavirus.
A universe where EastEnders isn’t in the air is an odd one, given that since it started in 1985, the soap has never once taken a break, but fans will be pleased to know that filming will resume this month, albeit with new social distancing measures in place.
Speaking of returning to filming, actress Kellie said: ‘I am very grateful that I have a job that will start over again, I know it will be challenging.
‘I ‘m looking forward to seeing the people I ‘m working with, and I’m kind of intrigued – I don’t have any idea what’s ahead at the moment.
‘I know that after living through coronavirus, we’ll be living in a very different world, and we’re honouring that which is really important, but it’ll be very different.
‘it is going to be a new challenge for my brain, which has gone to sleep in the last few months. What I’m most afraid of is learning my lines!
Despite new episodes are missing from our screens, EastEnders fans will not be without their Walford fix, as a brand-new series, entitled Secrets From The Square will air on Monday nights amid the broadcast break.
The spin-off will see a host of soap actors speaking to Stacey Dooley, the presenter, and Kellie is first up with Danny Dyer, the on-screen husband.
Speaking about what viewers can expect, Kellie said, ‘It was really funny to film the show, what I loved about Danny’s day was that I laughed non-stop.
It reminded me of what it’s like to be working with him daily, and why I love working with him so much because he’s a joy.
‘So it was seeing our crew, it was a skeleton crew, but it was our cameramen and women, and our producers were so nice.
‘I come away from thinking that day it was a breath of fresh air after all these weeks and weeks of lockdown, and I didn’t see anyone except my husband and kids.
beautiful to be in a room full of people then. It’s been like a little holiday.
‘It was really nostalgic, we’ve been on the show for six and a half years now, and now we’re at a point where you’re looking back at the beginning and feel like a long time ago. And Danny and I look really young!
Filming Secrets From The Square was the first time Kellie had stepped foot on Albert Square since production had halted in the amid the pandemic, and the actress described it as an ’emotional’ experience.
She said, ‘When I drove back into Elstree, I felt very emotional, more than I expected I was going to since I’d last been there, the world has changed too much. ‘And the feeling was immense.
That’s like my home, so I felt comfortable coming back. I think it’s the hardest thing to see people I’m used to seeing every day and not being able to hug them.
