Following the cancellation of Neighbours, Ryan Moloney is said to be eyeing a role on Home and Away.
The 42-year-old actor, who has played Jarrod ‘Toadfish’ Rebecchi on Neighbours since 1995, is considering a switch to the rival soap after the current season ends in June.
‘He’s made more than enough money playing Toadie,’ a source told Woman’s Day, ‘but he loves working, and if a role on Home and Away came up, he’d definitely consider it.’
Channel 10 has been contacted by the Daily Mail Australia for comment.
Ryan has been a part of the cast of Neighbours for 27 years, and Toadfish is one of the most well-known and long-running characters on the show.
Toadie, who began as a troubled adolescent, went on to become a lawyer and a beloved member of the Ramsay Street community.
The long-running soap’s production will come to an end after a 37-year run, it was announced earlier this month.
‘After nearly 37 years and nearly 9,000 episodes broadcast, we regret to inform you that Neighbours will be ending production in June,’ the show said on Twitter.
‘Following the loss of our key broadcast partner in the United Kingdom, and despite a thorough search for alternative funding, we have no choice but to put the show on hold.’

‘We know this is a huge disappointment to our amazing, loyal fans, as it is to all of us on the team. We appreciate all of your messages and support, and we promise to end the show on a high note. We’ll be celebrating Neighbours from now on.’
Meanwhile, Network 10 issued a statement to Australian media about the series’ conclusion, admitting it was a “difficult decision.”
‘Today, Fremantle confirmed that Neighbours will end production in June, after nearly 37 years and nearly 9,000 episodes,’ a spokesperson for the network said.
‘This difficult decision was made after an unsuccessful search for an alternative UK broadcast partner.’
They went on to say that the show would ‘not air on 10 Peach after September 2022,’ effectively ending its decades-long run.
‘It has been a staple of Australian television drama and Australian cultural exports for over 35 years,’ they added.
‘Ramsay Street, Erinsborough, is a world-famous cul-de-sac that has housed Scott and Charlene, Des and Daphne, Dr Karl and Susan, Dee and Toadie, Aaron and David, and a slew of other residents.
‘Network 10 thanks the cast, crew, production team, and Fremantle for bringing the perfect blend of soap and sunshine to audiences in Australia and around the world,’ says the network.
‘We are confident that the cast, crew, and writers will bring their unique warmth, style, and humour to the Neighbours set as they begin filming the final episodes in the coming months,’ they added.
