When Neighbours returns in 2022, Freya Van Dyke will play Amy Greenwood’s daughter Zara Selwyn.
The first peek at next year’s episodes reveals that adolescent Zara will be visiting Amy (Jacinta Stapleton) in Erinsborough, seemingly signaling the end of Amy’s polyamorous relationship with Levi Canning and Ned Willis.
Freya shared a photo of herself as Zara on Instagram, expressing her joy at being a part of the Ramsay Street serial.
“Super excited to announce I’ve joined the cast of @neighbours playing the role of Zara Selwyn!” she wrote.
While little is known about why Zara chooses to come to Erinsborough or what her early storylines will be, Amy appears to be adamant in the 2022 trailer that her daughter comes first.
“Right now, it just needs to be Zara and me,” she says.
Zara isn’t the only new face showing up in early 2022, with “ultimate mystery girl” Freya Wozniak (played by new series regular Phoebe Roberts) set to be introduced as well.
Amanda Holden will also appear as Harriet, Harlow’s aunt and the sister of the late Prue Wallace, in a unique plot set in London.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor was also spotted filming for the UK storyline of Harlow.
The show will premiere in the UK and Australia on January 3 – but with 10 Peach sticking to its four-episode weekly schedule, it won’t be long before the UK catches up to Australia.
