The star has reprised his much-loved role.
As the Australian serial Neighbours prepares for its final few months on the air after being canceled, fans have been treated to a first peek at Harold Bishop’s homecoming.
But, before we start lamenting the loss of our favorite soap, there’s a birthday to celebrate! The 37th anniversary of Neighbours was recently celebrated, and what better way to commemorate the occasion than with a peek of Harold?
Charlotte Chimes (Nicolette), Richie Morris (Levi), Takaya Honda (David), and newbie Gemma Bird Matheson (Kiri) were among the stars featured in the brief teaser.
Lucinda Cowden (Melanie) from Neighbours also lent her sultry singing voice to the festivities.
Actor Ian Smith was then seen on video wishing the program that made him famous a very happy birthday, before adding, “your 37th birthday!” with shock.
Harold has played a memorable role in the rich history of Neighbours, having been a cherished character since 1987. Star Smith appeared in a number of high-profile plots, including forgetfulness, illness, and sadness. Harold was lost at sea in one of his most memorable stories, and he was assumed dead until he was eventually found and restored to his wife Madge (Anne Charleston).
We can’t wait for Harold to return to Ramsey Street!
Smith last appeared in the character in 2015, when he returned for Neighbours’ 30th anniversary festivities. So it’s only natural that he’s back on board now, especially in light of the soap’s bleak outlook.
