If you watch ITV’s Midsomer Murders, you could catch a glimpse of an old Coronation Street star.

Sean Gallagher, well known for his role in the serial as Paul Connor, was tragically killed off after only nine months on the show.

Paul was one of the first Connor family members, arriving on the cobblestones alongside sister Michelle and younger brother Liam in the late summer of 2006.

He was married to Carla Connor and was at the wheel the night Michelle’s late partner Dean was killed in a car accident.

However, few Corrie fans are aware that Sean spent a year on Eastenders before landing the role of Paul Connor.

Gallagher made his television debut in Eastenders in 1992, and his character was notable for having an affair with Sam Mitchell.

Sam had been married to Ricky for a year when she became bored and met a playboy named Clive at a New Year’s Eve party.

Sam believes she has fallen in love with Clive after a brief romance, but he is simply interested in using her for sex, prompting her to leave Walford.

Sean left Coronation Street after less than ten months on the show to pursue other acting opportunities.

Sean went on to play the father of Lacey Turner’s major character Molly in the BBC One drama Our Girl.

He also starred opposite fellow soap actor Michelle Collins, who played his on-screen wife Karina, in the 2007 ITV thriller Rock Rivals as Mal Faith.

Sean’s latest credits include Doctor Who, Father Ted, and Silent Witness.

In 2017, he appeared in the episode “Red in Tooth & Claw” of Midsomer Murders.
