DURING FRIDAY’S SHOW, THE CHASE leader Bradley Walsh was caught aback when one of the contestants revealed that the ITV quiz show wasn’t their first journey onto the small screen.
On Friday afternoon, Bradley Walsh welcomed Charlotte, Kenny, Erin, and Lewis to The Chase, where they all hoped to win life-changing sums of money.
They’d have to vanquish Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty in a series of head-to-head battles to do so. Charlotte was the first player up, but her £6,000 cash-builder sum didn’t get her back to the Final Chase, but when second player Kenny took the table, it was his tale that stunned Bradley.
Kenny was the second contestant up to face Anne on Friday’s The Chase, hoping to avoid Charlotte’s fate.
Bradley was eager to learn more about the participant before the quiz began, as he always was.
“What do you do for a living?” Bradley asked right away as Kenny replied: “I’m retired. I used to be a police officer.”
Eager to learn more, the presenter probed: “Right, okay. Crikey, you retired young?”
Kenny explained: “I was 49, I had quite a varied career, I’ve enjoyed it very much -“
But before he could delve further, Bradley cut in: “When you say varied career, you were like on the beat then in the cars then a detective or what?”
The Chase player said: “Yeah, I started in uniform and I was a detective for a large part of it. It was very good, I’ve enjoyed it.”
Kenny, on the other hand, stated that since leaving police enforcement, he’s pursued a radically different career path, one that Bradley is passionate about.
“What do you do now you’re retired?” Bradley asked to which Kenny responded: “Well, I’m enjoying my retirement, it gives me more time to go to gigs and watch stand-up comedy.
“But what I’ve also done is I’ve signed up with an agency in Manchester and I do some TV supporting artist work.”
“Great, excellent stuff, have you done Corrie yet?” a surprised Bradley asked, prompting Kenny to reply: “I’ve not.
“I’ve been very lucky to do a lot of stuff and I’ve done Emmerdale but I’ve not done Corrie yet and to be honest, I’d love to.”
With £17,000 on the line, the trio needed to outpace Anne one last time to split the prize money.
They were disappointed, however, when Anne only received a 15 out of a possible 20.
Anne confirmed their fears by catching the team with 14 seconds to spare.
