Bec Hewitt: ‘The truth about my marriage’

Since July 21, 2005, when they married in a lavish ceremony at the Sydney Opera House, they’ve been serving up true love. Bec and Lleyton Hewitt are both as close and respectful of each other’s careers nearly 16 years later.

If Bec’s amazing steps on last week’s Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars finale weren’t proof enough, it’s obvious that now is her time to shine on her own, after stepping away from the limelight to help Lleyton’s tennis career.

Bec recently revealed, “It was never an option – a decision – that I made to stop acting.”

“It just naturally happened because, obviously, I wanted to be there with the kids. I don’t want to miss anything.

“When I’m on the road with Lleyton, all I want to do is help him and take his mind off the major matches,” she said of her surprise decision to leave her beloved role as Hayley Smith on Home and Away in 2005.

Lleyton, who retired from professional tennis in 2016, credits Bec with keeping the family together throughout his tennis career, and says the two make a formidable team.

“I love her so much and we have a great life together, and she produced three fantastic kids,” he said at the time.

“She really is my soulmate, and we go through absolutely everything together. I couldn’t be prouder to have Bec alongside me,” he continued.

Despite her desire to stay out of the spotlight, Bec admits that there is certain stuff she just can’t pass up – so when DWTS called, she juggled her mothering duties to Mia, 15, Cruz, 12, and Ava, 10, to return to the hit show, which she won in 2004.

“Joining the show was a great example for my kids to see that you can never be too old to do something you enjoy. “My first reaction was to say yes, but I had to take a step back and think about it,” Bec says.

It hasn’t always been plain sailing, however. Bec spoke about her struggle with OCD in a 2013 interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly.

“I’m definitely obsessive compulsive,” she said. “Oh, good golly, any kind of cleaning, bed making. It’s the way I do things. I do that repetition thing. If I’m not sure that I’ve done it, well, I’ll do it again. I do find it hard to sleep at night,” Bec candidly confessed.

Now, after her success on the show, she admits that the routine will need to continue – implying that she’s ready to return to the showbiz world – but she’s looking forward to a change.

She told TV Week earlier this month, “I think being a bit of a bad girl would be kind of fun, to really push myself.”

She refuses to rule out a return to Summer Bay, saying, “It will only be fun and something unexpected for people to see a different side of me.”

“They didn’t kill my character off … so we’ll wait and see!”

Bec’s baby joy!

Despite the fact that her original dancing partner, Michael Miziner, did not return for the All Stars version, Bec managed to wow the judges with ballroom pro Craig Monley.

Taking to Instagram recently, the dancer announced he had welcomed a daughter with his wife, Sriani.

“Introducing our little peanut, Sienna Gypsy Argaet Monley,” he wrote.

“Thank you very much for all of your lovely posts, emails, and phone calls… we felt the love. How did we ever survive without you on the most magnificent, incredible, nerve-wracking, thrilling, and unique day of our lives?!” Sriani was close behind.

Bec and her eldest daughter were swift to congratulate the new father, as were her fellow celebrity dancers Matty ‘J’ Johnson, Tom Williams, and Lincoln Lewis.
