Vera fans distracted by Emmerdale star’s surprise appearance: ‘Miss her’

A surprise cameo by an Emmerdale star during Sunday night’s ITV episode distracted VERA fans.

Vera fans were overjoyed to see their favorite detective return to television on Sunday night. DCI Vera Stanhope (Brenda Blethyn) and her sidekick Aiden Healy (Kenny Doughty) returned to Series 11 with a bang, solving yet another murder case. However, it didn’t take long for ITV fans to notice a familiar figure in the show.

The series frequently features a lot of guest performers, and Emmerdale actress Charlie Hardwick made a surprise appearance during Sunday night’s episode.

Charlie was married to Eric Pollard, who played Val Pollard in the ITV serial (Chris Chittell).

She made her Emmerdale debut in 2004 and was killed off in 2015.

Charlie played Grace Webley, a sinister underworld leader, in the third episode of Series 11, titled Tyger Tyger.

Since leaving Emmerdale, Charlie has kept a quiet profile, only appearing in a few shows, but Vera fans were overjoyed to see him in the ITV drama.

Sue took to Twitter to express her feelings, writing, “Is Val from Emmerdale going to make an entrance #vera.”

“It’s great to see Charlie Hardwick, aka Emmerdale’s Valery Pollard, back on our screens,” Sally Young wrote. (sic)

“That’s Val from #Emmerdale ain’t it #Vera,” Sir Beanz tweeted. (sic)

While Marina added: “I think we really need to see more of Val from Emmerdale in her ‘don’t mess with me pet’ power blouse.”

“Oh, how I miss Val in Emmerdale,” Diane commented as Paul exclaimed: “Ahhh it’s Val Pollard!!”

Alex joked: “Eric Pollard rubbed off on Val. Selling dodgy antiques.”

In Sunday night’s episode of Vera, Krissi Bohn and Bill Ward also appeared as guests.

Vera and Aiden had to investigate a robbery gone bad at a port in the most recent episode.

After the victim’s son was taken, detectives suspected the heist was an inside operation.

Vera had concerns about the victim, who had been put in a coma till he died.

Charlie’s character Grace, whom she questioned about drugs, was also a source of concern for the leading lady.

“Woman like you doesn’t miss much,” Vera began.

Aiden chipped in: “We have got evidence that Connor is in connection with the abduction of a 14-year-old boy.”

“Gary’s lad went missing before the robbery,” Vera added as Grace hit back: “I would never injure a child.”

“Then you better make this right…” Vera concluded as she walked off.
